I am so excited to share with you the new release from Colorado Craft Company! New illustrations from Anita Jeram, and they are so fun to create with! Ok- let’s get to the good stuff!

I created three different cards to share with you today- let’s get started with the details! For the two mermaid cards, I started by stamping and coloring the mermaid twice from the new Mermaid and Seahorses stamp set. I went with two different color schemes for each mermaid. I used Lawn Fawn Jet Black and Lawn Fawn white cardstock which is Neenah Classic Crest 80 LB Smooth Solar White Paper to stamp them.
I used the above Copic markers to color the images. You will find them linked below in the cardmaking supply list. With the swatches above you can easily substitute for similar colors, or even a different coloring medium. I then fussy cut out each of the mermaids, and created the backgrounds.
For this background, I did a little ink smooshing onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Uncharted Mariner Distress Ink. I then diecut it out with the largest stitched rectangle in Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle set. I ink-blended parts of the edges with the same Uncharted Mariner ink. I then took the wave stamp from the new Mermaid and Whale stamp set and stamped them with Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide Ink.
I added the mermaid to the card with some foam squares/strips. I then stamped the sentiment and cut it into word strips and added them to the card as well. Lastly, I added a few white gel pen accents and a sprinkle of chunky glitter to the mermaid tail.
For the second mermaid card, I ink blended a background using Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and Ocean Wave Stencils from Lawn Fawn onto a piece of Distress White Heavystock. I used Simon Says Stamp blender brushes (that I store in my favorite brush caddy). As always when I use stencils I used the Make Art Stay-tion and whenever I am ink blending I love to use the Ink Stands to hold my ink pads, I also use a small mister bottle filled with Isopropyl Alcohol, to quickly clean my stencils with a Flour Sack Cloth. I then stamped the whole image from Mermaid and Sea Horses. I colored in the seaweed and sea horses, directly on the ink-blended background with Copic markers.
I attached the mermaid with a glue tube. For the sentiment, I white embossed the sentiment. I used Yeti Lawn Fawn pigment ink, and Alabaster White Brutus Monroe White Embossing Powder. Note: whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool.
I then ink blended over it with Salvaged Patina and Wilted Violet Distress Ink. I attached it to the card with foam squares. I filled in the bubbles with a white gel pen and added some Prisma glitter and Chunky glitter for some sparkle.
For this last card, I just had to use the new Seas the Day stamp set. I thought the seagulls were so cute! I actually really enjoy watching the seagulls when at the beach. I feel like they get a bad reputation. I started by stamping the two main images, and then a few extras of just the pilings, without the seagulls. I did this by selective inking and masking. I then masked all the images and proceeded to ink blend over. I ink blended the water with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, and the rays with Lawn Fawn’s Sun Rays stencil and Wild Honey Distress Ink.
I then colored the images with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black. Lastly, I added a line of Distress Rock Candy Glitter along the horizon.
I didn’t get to play with Mermaid and Penguins or the new Walrus sets yet, but you know I will soon!
These stamps were so fun to play with! The illustrations are just so sweet. I hope you enjoyed these 3 cards!

Great cards, I love that you “simplified” the scene by using just the mermaid on the two then just having an ink blended background. These scared me a little when I first looked at them because I am not a great colorist. And then your scene with the seagulls is so pretty and lifelike. Thank you for sharing your vision with us.
