So Very Grateful – Lawn Fawn

So Very Grateful – Lawn Fawn

I thought with Thanksgiving approaching in the US, it was only fitting to make some cards to send to friends, to let them know how grateful I am for them and our friendships. I don’t have a big family, so I have surrounded myself with chosen family, people who are very special to me.

For this card, I started by ink blending with a bunch of different Distress Inks, on a piece of Distress White Heavystock using mini blender brushes and the fall leaves background stencils. When I was stenciling I used the Stay-tion. LOVE that tool when stenciling, it makes it SO easy!

I like to use blender brushes when I want a softer look with dye inks like Distress Inks.

The Distress Ink colors I used for the background are:

• Festive Berries
• Fossilized Amber
• Ground Espresso
• Mustard Seed
• Ripe Persimmon
• Scattered Straw
• Spiced Marmalade
• Walnut Stain
• Vintage Photo

I love how all the inks are layered together and look like real leaves. Next, I stamped the hugging bunny and fox from Happy Hugs with Jet Black ink, and some leaves from Scripty Autumn Sentiments with Crunchy Leaf ink and colored them in with Copic markers. Using the Crunchy Leaf ink for the leaves gives a more realistic look and a softer edge. It is one of the inks that are alcohol marker friendly.

I diecut the background out of the largest stitched rectangle in the Outside In Stitched Rectangle set and matted it on Kraft cardstock. I then cut a piece of vellum, to place behind the hugging bunny and fox. This way they don’t get lost against the background full of leaves.

I then stamped the sentiments with Walnut Lawn Fawn ink. I stamped and diecut the scripty word “grateful”, and stamped “I’m so very” and “for friends like you” and fussy cut out into word fetti.

I finished off the card by adding some glossy accents to the stamped leaves. I hope to make some more of these and get them out to some special friends soon!
