Hi everyone! I guess you can call this post a “jennabler” post, as I am going to talk about a few tools that I carry in the {creative chick} studio shop and show you just how awesome they are!
I shared this card over on Instagram to celebrate The Ink Stand’s Birthday back in November, and I wanted to be sure to share it here as well because I love how it turned out so much!
I will walk you through how I created it, but I also shared a fun ASMR quick video on Instagram sharing the process!
So I mentioned The Ink Stand, have you seen them yet? Do you know how fabulous they are? They hold your ink pads so that when you are ink blending your in pad doesn’t move all around the table. It also helps you not get inky fingers, because you don’t need to hold onto the ink pad. The rectangle stands and square stands have magnets on the side so you can click them together and have a whole row. This way you can have more fun ink blending!! There is also one that fits all those mini ink cubes- how perfect?! We know how those can be hard to hold onto when creating! I am proud to stock all of these in my {creative chick} studio shop! You can get yours today!
So I started by lining up 3 square Ink Stands, and put in them Wilted Violet, Shaded Lilac, and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink. I then got out my mini Stay-Tion, which is the best tool to hold your stencils! It has strong magnets, a grid, and will easily hold your stencils in place as you ink blend (or spread paste).
I love this tool so much that I also carry it in my shop! So I have my ink pads set up, and my stay-tion, and then I proceeded to ink blend some snowflakes on the background using Distress White Heavystock, and blender brushes. I use some Tombow Repositionable Runner, to add my cardstock to the Stay-tion, this makes it easier to ink blend right to the edge. And I proceed to blend the snowflakes using one of the background stencils from Lawn Fawn.
Holding my blender brushes is another favorite tool of mine that I carry in my shop, the Layer Cake Blender Caddie. This holds 20 blender brushes and takes up little space on my studio table, which is important since I always have a messy desk when I am creating. I attached my Caddie to a 4″ Lazy Susan with putty, so all I need to do is spin the Caddie to access all my brushes!
So, I only ink blended one of the snowflake stencils because I wanted to leave some space to stamp some snowflakes. For this, I used Lawn Fawn’s Frosties stamp set. This stamp set has been retired for a number of years, but it was given to everyone who participated in Crop & Create this past fall. Before you get mad at me, you could substitute it with ANY snowflake stamps…. or have patience, and word on the streets is Lawn Fawn is going to re-release the set sometime this year 😉
To stamp the snowflakes I used Lawn Fawn ink in, Merman and Fresh Lavender. I used an acrylic block, this makes it super easy to stamp exactly where I want. I love Lawn Fawn’s acrylic blocks, with the grip on the sides! Now that my background is complete I die cut it from my MOST used die- the largest Outside In Stitched Rectangle from Lawn Fawn.
Next, I used a Quickie Glue Pen and Prisma Glitter and filled in some of the snowflakes with a little sparkle. I used the “scoop” method for glittering, and again you can see it in my short video here.
I ink blended the edges of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ Distress White Heavystock panel with an ink blending tool and domed foam to mount my card front on. I find using the domed foam gives you a bolder coverage and goes on smooth!
For the sentiment, I used Giant Let It Snow die from Lawn Fawn. I die cut it from Sugar Plum cardstock, and from an ink blended piece of Distress White Cardstock where I blended the same Distress colors, Salvaged Patina, Shaded Lilac, and Wilted Violet. I glued the 2 sentiments together a bit off-set with a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. I use a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube for probably 75% of my adhesive. It is so easy to use with the Make It By Marko Glue Tube Holder, that I carry in my shop!
I adhered the sentiment to the card with Foam Strips, I am in LOVE with these and they work SO well for a lot of the items I like to pop up off my cards!
Once the sentiment was on my card, I dabbed some glossy accents along the bottom of the word SNOW, and sprinkled some chunky glitter to the bottom- because you know… “glitter all the things”!
Speaking of, I just released a new sticker in my shop, a holographic “glitter all the things”. These vinyl stickers are waterproof and fun to decorate laptops, water bottles, envelopes, and more!
I added a fun sentiment strip from Tim Holtz’s metallic sticker book. So easy to have a splash of gold, no embossing needed!
Hope this card inspires you and gives you some more info about some of my favorite tools! Remember to check out the fun ASMR quick video on Instagram!
