Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous: Curiosity Shop
These cards definitely took on a lot of different looks before the final outcome. It was one of those instances where I kept adding more, because I wasn’t happy with how they looked. I think the end result is a lot of fun! I started by creating a Marbled Distress Paint background, which I shared how to do here. I created 6 backgrounds. 3 with a cool-toned color scheme and 3 with a warm-toned color scheme. I used the following Distress paint colors:
Warm tone
Cool tone
I created these on Distress Mixed Media Heavystock, but you could also use Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Once dry I then spread Distress Crackle Paste Translucent through the Alpha Layering Stencil and let dry.
Once dry I sprayed some Lost Shadow Distress Spray Stain over the crackled background. I wanted something to help bring the crackle out, but I didn’t want it to overpower the colors too much. This didn’t really work the way I wanted so I added some watered down Picket Fence Distress Paint instead.
Once that was dry I stamped over the whole background using Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide or Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide with the Tiny Text Stamp set. I used it as a whole background.
I then stamped the typewriter from Curiosity Shop stamp set in either Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide or Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide, and fussy cut them out, but Did you know? That Simon Says Stamp is offering coordinating dies for some of Tim Holtz’s stamp sets? This stamp set is one of them!
I added a generous amount of glossy accents to the typewriter keys, let that dry, then added another layer making them very dimensional. I then stamped out the piece of paper, a sentiment on them. I cut them out and used a paper distresser on the top. I cut a slit into the typewriter with an x-acto, and put the paper into it. I added the typewriter with foam squares to the cards.
