Alright, now to the fun card I have to share with you-
Osterville Cape Cod, Lawn Fawnatics
Many of you know that I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and I am a part-time mermaid. I absolutely LOVE where I live, and I love sharing it with all of you! Before we get started on the details of this card, you can see some other Cape Cod cards I have created here:
I also have a fun exclusive Cape Cod Stamp set, available in my shop. There are some Cape Cod-specific images, but there are also some awesome nautical images as well!
As you can see I have created a lot of cards with a Cape Cod theme, this time I thought it would be fun to feature the town I live in, Osterville. For this card, I started by stamping, watercoloring, and die-cutting a bunch of images from On The Beach, Mermaid For You, Life is Good, Ocean Shell-fie and So Jelly. I used Lawn Fawn Jet Black and Distress Watercolor Cardstock and colored them in with Distress Watercolor Pencils.
I also stamped, die cut, and watercolored letters from Quinn’s ABCs to spell out “Osterville”. This is one of my most favorite alphabets from Lawn Fawn, and I just LOVE how these letters turned out. If you are looking to learn more about Distress Watercolor Pencils, I would encourage you to sign up for my online class. More details are here.
I die-cut the Heart Garland Backdrop: Landscape out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, and watercolored it with Distress Watercolor Pencils, trying to make it look like a driftwood frame.
I also created the background on Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Distress Watercolor Pencils.
Using the banner included in the Heart Garland Backdrop die, I diecut that and stamped “cape cod” with Riley’s ABCs. I then inked the edges with a little Tea Dye Distress Ink.
I decorated the heart garland, with all the shells I watercolored. I tried my best to choose the shells that I often find on one of my favorite beaches, which is only 5 minutes from home. I absolutely LOVE how this looks.
I added the jellies- because usually late summer we do have some jellies in the water. I will probably jinx myself with this post, but I have lived on Cape Cod for over 15 years and haven’t been stung yet. One of my besties, Josie has been stung twice, both times she and I were floating together. I guess maybe mermaids are immune?!
I added a touch of Distress Rock Candy Glitter with Distress Collage Medium, and a hint of Chunky Glitter with Glossy Accents- giving it that magical ocean look that I see when I look out on the water and beach. I also added some dimensional dots of glossy accents and a white gel pen to the jellies.
I hope you find this card inspiring, and that you join us in the challenge! You could win a $50 Gift Certificate from Lawn Fawn!!

I LOVE this!! All of the cards, actually. As someone who lived in Falmouth, I can totally relate to your wonderful card. I love how you made your frame look like driftwood and/or weathered shingles, and the shell garland is awesome! And the jellyfish cracks me up. We had plenty in a pond near the place we stayed on the Vineyard when I was younger. There is no way I can make something even half as great, so I’ll just marvel at your card for a while. 🙂
