Hello everyone! Sharing a wicked fun Lawn Fawn card today and details about a card challenge we hope you will participate in!
Welcome to Cape Cod, Lawn Fawn
Tammy Stark and Lawn Fawn are hosting a fun little card challenge. Home is where the heart is the theme of the challenge. More details about this challenge at the end of my post.
Of course, the theme of my card is Cape Cod, as many of you know I LOVE living here. It was so fun for me to pull this card together. Going through all my Lawn Fawn stamp sets and picking out images that represented Cape Cod was a fun little creative challenge. I am excited to share with you what each of the images represents. I share all the stamp sets at the end of my post.
The beach umbrella, beach ball, and sand pail represent all the sunny days spent at the beaches. On top of the 550+ miles of coastline there are over 1,000 ponds and lakes on Cape Cod too- so a lot of different beaches to visit.
The sailboat represents all the fun water activities there are to do.
We have a lot of different whales in our water including the very endangered Right Whales. There are only approximately 400 adults in existence. Whale watching is also something fun you can do here. I have been a few times, and last summer when we went we had approx 24 different humpback whales around our boat, surfacing, and slapping their tails. It was amazing!
Lobster is a pretty big deal around here. I know a lot of coastal towns there is a focus on crabs, so a lot of ocean stamps sets only include images of them. I love that Lawn Fawn has a good lobster image (or “lobsta” as most people from Massachusetts say).
Continuing on I have some of the shops from the Village Shop set. Cape Cod has 15 towns, and within each town there are villages. Each village has a quaint downtown, or main street filled unique small businesses. Gift shops, galleries, restaurants, and more. I love the variety that each village offers.
The little 6a road sign is actually from my exclusive Cape Cod stamp set that I offer in my shop. 6a Route is on the northern, or bay side, of Cape Cod, and winds its way through some of the oldest villages in America. Many of the homes and churches along this road are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Below the shop, I have a shark. Over the past 5 years, we have had a larger population of White Sharks in our waters. Part of this is due to better tracking, so we know they are there, and the other part is due to the large, protected seal population we have off our coasts. The most common question I get is “is it safe to swim where you and Chris goto the beach”. The short answer is yes, we feel safe. Of course, we are swimming in the same ocean where the sharks are, but the beach that we goto there has been no shark activity. The general rule is don’t swim where the seals are, and there are rarely seals at our beach.
I had to stick a jellyfish on here because it makes me giggle. Usually, in August we do have jellyfish in the water. They will sting, but are not deadly. I have never been stung, but have had friends swimming next to me get stung. Maybe it’s because I’m a mermaid 😉
Next, I have a biplane. I had to stick this on here because just down the road from our house is the Cape Cod Airfield where they do biplane rides. We often see the plane fly over our house. I also recently treated my dad to a flight, you can see more about that here
Of course, there is a mermaid, because well, I live on Cape Cod 😉
I added the ice cream because we take it VERY seriously in New England. On Cape Cod, you are either team Four Seas or team Sundae School. (I’m team Four seas 😉 ).
I had to put the scallop on here because everyone always says I say the word funny. It’s not ‘skal-lup’, it’s ‘skawl-up’.
Next up is the lighthouse. This actually is representing two things. One being the 14 lighthouses we have here on Cape Cod. I even colored it sort of like Nauset Light, only swapping out the red for purple. Secondly, this sort of represents the Pilgrim Monument which is in Provincetown which is at the northern tip of Cape Cod. It was founded in 1892, and it’s purpose is to commemorate the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in the New World in Provincetown, in November 1620. The Pilgrims spent 5 weeks exploring the tip of Cape Cod, before they sailed on to Plymouth. They also drew up and signed the Mayflower Compact, which established the rule of law for the new land. So this is also why I have a little pilgrim mouse on here. A lot of people think it was Plymouth Massachusetts where the Pilgrims first landed, and that is actually not true.
The little ptown road sign is also from my exclusive Cape Cod stamp set that I offer in my shop. A lot of locals call Provincetown “ptown”.
The sentiment was created with Oliver’s ABC’s and Smitty’s ABC’s. I of course had to sprinkle some Chunky glitter here and there as well.
If you took the time to read all of this I hope you found it interesting 😉 and maybe now you would like to visit Cape Cod someday!

amazing card!
What a great card! Sure does do credit to the Cape. Love it!
Love everything about this fantastic card!
Jenn, So cute! All you’re missing is a cup of chowda and the Melody Tent. I am originally from CT and would often vacation in the Cape. Now I’m in Florida and when people around here say, “The Cape” it throws me off because they mean Cape Coral. I like Cape Cod much better and miss it! Thanks for sharing!
Uh–WOW! Amazing!! Perfect depiction of the Cape! It’s my happy place and that card represents extreme happiness! TFS! This made my day!
This is such a cute card. There are so many fun elements on it. The colors are fantastic.
Wow! Your card is chockfull of Cape Cod-iness. I love your card and all the Cape Cod facts your threw in. I’m going to look through my stamps and see if I can find some (enough) that represent my hometown. Thanks for sharing the challenge, #homeiswheretheheartischallenge
