Announcement: Exclusive Cape Cod Stamps

03/28/2019

Eeeeep! I am wicked excited with this announcement to share with all of you! I have over in my shop right now a fun exclusive clear stamp set for sale! Some of the images are Cape Cod specific, but a lot of them can be used on any nautical creation! Attendees at Crop on the Cape earlier this month got the first looks at this new set, and everyone was pretty excited!

Before I share some of the amazing samples a few crafty friends made for me, let me share with you a little of the back story about these images.

Back in 2010, I was still managing a local papercrafting store here on Cape Cod, Colorful Creations. And we commissioned some artwork to have our own line of wood-mounted stamps made. We carried a lot of Cape Cod specific papercrafting items, but I was most excited about having this line of stamps.

Fast forward to today: It has been on my very long to-do list to look into using the same art to create a clear stamp set. Here we are! These images are the same as the wood mounted stamps, but sizes are different. I think they will coordinate better with other stamps and supplies available today.

How about some inspiration?

Exclusive Cape Cod Stamps

I have been so good at keeping this a secret, which I am usually not good at. When I got a few samples in the mail from the manufacturer I immediately contacted a few crafty friends and begged asked them to create a few samples for me. They were so awesome to do so quickly so that I would be able to display them at Crop on the Cape.

Chari created these 2 bright and cheery rainbow love cards. I love her rainbow lobsters and white embossed Adirondack chairs.

Cheiron created these next two cards. I love how authentically beachy they are, with the distressed edges. I also love how she incorporated other scene building dies to create a story.

Nina Marie created this watercolor masterpiece. I just love the non-traditional colors, beautiful!

As I mentioned above, Crop on the Cape attendees got first dibs at this set a couple of weeks ago, and they went right to town creating! Carissa snuck a sweet little thank you card set for me, as a thank you for hosting the event.

and Eliza created an anniversary card for her sweetie, the arrow actually spins! Love her hashtags!

Lastly, this week I finally got a chance to ink up the set and create with them. You all know I love to create beachy cards, and I love that this set has some fabulous images to do just that!

You also probably know how much I LOVE Cape Cod- so it’s pretty exciting to be able to make Cape Cod specific cards as well!

Can’t wait to hear what you think of this set, and I can’t wait to see what you create with it! You can purchase it over here in my shop. Shipping in the US is included in the price. If you are international and would like one, please email me and I can give you a quote for shipping.

Lastly, please keep in mind that I travel and teach papercrafting classes most weekends so I will only be able to ship out orders Monday-Thursday. Thank you for understanding.

A little bit of information about the stamps and their meaning:

Cape Cod: is a geographic cape extending into the Atlantic Ocean from the southeastern corner of mainland Massachusetts, in the northeastern United States. Its historic, maritime character and ample beaches attract heavy tourism during the summer months. Since 1914, most of Cape Cod has been separated from the mainland by the Cape Cod Canal. The canal cuts 7 miles roughly across the base of the peninsula. Two highway bridges cross the Cape Cod Canal.

Route 6a: is Cape Cod’s most historic and scenic highway. It follows along Cape Cod bay and passes some of the most historic buildings and places on Cape Cod

Ptown: is what locals call Provincetown. Provincetown is located at the most extreme tip of Cape Cod, with only 3,000 year-round residents, but it explodes to 60,000 in the summer! Ptown is only 17.5 square miles!

Woods Hole: is at the most extreme southwest corner of Cape Cod near Martha’s Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands. It is the site of several famous marine science institutions, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Laboratory, the Woods Hole Research Center, NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center (which started the Woods Hole scientific community in 1871), the Woods Hole Science Aquarium, a USGS coastal and marine geology center, and the home campus of the Sea Education Association. It is also the site of United States Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England (formerly USCG Group Woods Hole), the Nobska Light lighthouse, and the terminus of the Steamship Authority ferry route between Cape Cod and the island of Martha’s Vineyard.

Ferry: there are several ferries operating on Cape Cod. Passenger ferries, high-speed ferries etc to transport from Cape Cod to the Islands (Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket)

Lobster Trap and Lobsters: On Cape Cod, we call them “Lobsta”.  New England has some of the yummiest and freshest seafood, Lobster is just one of those items. You can find Lobster Mac & Cheese, Lobster Ice Cream, Lobster Ravioli, Lobster Rolls and more!

Adirondack Chairs: These are usually made out of wood, and with the low deep seat it forces you to relax. You can find them all over Cape Cod at hotels, restaurants and in peoples yards.

Footprints in the sand: Cape Cod’s beaches are considered among the best in the world, especially those along the Cape Cod National Seashore, a 40-mile stretch of unspoiled sandy beach in Outer Cape Cod. With 559.6 miles of coastline, Cape Cod offers many beautiful sandy beaches for you to enjoy.

Love this set! Brings back good memories. I used to boat across the canal and on a full moon all the sand dollars would come out and the water would recede from the canal in Barnstable. Then we would all sit down for a bowl of Quahog chowder. Your cards are awesome.

I gotta say I LOVE this set. Especially the Lobster. They are wicked cute. I do wish you’d come out with some great Boston slang sentiments to go with these. Like “wicked good” and “wicked dark” and Lobstah and oh there’s so many fun ones.

Kudos and congratulation on this cute set.
