I am only sharing a few of the new products being released today, you can see the full release here. I was so inspired by the new products from Hero Arts I made a bunch of cards to share with you. Let’s get started!
Card Details:
For this card, I started by hot-foiling the new Honeycomb Hot Foil Plate onto the smooth side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with some gold foil. I am using the Spellbinders, Glimmer Hot Foil System and the Spellbinders Platinum Machine. The Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System works with most die-cut machines, you don’t need a Spellbinders Platinum.
I then watercolored over the honeycomb design with Distress Watercolor Pencils in the following colors:
- mustard seed
- fossilized amber
- wild honey
- vintage photo
I added some splatters using the Vintage Photo and Hickory Smoke Distress Watercolor Pencils. I then scribbled some Hickory Smoke Distress Watercolor Pencils directly onto the cursive text stamp from the Background Texture Strips and then stamped it a few times across the background. I then stamped out some of the images from the Beelieve set, onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and watercolored them in with the following Distress Watercolor Pencils:
- picked raspberry
- candied apple
- mustard seed
- fossilized amber
- wild honey
- speckled egg
- peeled paint
If you would like to learn more about Distress Watercolor Pencils, I would encourage you to sign up for my online class, where we go over all kinds of information and techniques, you can see all of the details here.
For the sentiment, I die cut 4 “thanks” from Friend Words out of black cardstock and white embossed “you’re amazing” from Friendly Messages on black cardstock. I added these sentiments to the card with black foam strips.
Note: whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool.
Card Details:
For this card, I used the new Bee Florals Window Fancy Die, I die cut it from Distress Watercolor Cardstock and watercolored it with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I used the following colors:
- picked raspberry
- candied apple
- mustard seed
- fossilized amber
- wild honey
- peeled paint
- speckled egg
- salvaged patina
- hickory smoke
- black soot
If you didn’t want to watercolor the image like this, there is also a coordinating layering stencil that you could use to add color.
I followed the same steps for creating the sentiment, using Friend Words and Friendly Messages. I also added a few little gems to the card, and also dotted the “I” with one.
Card Details:
I was having so much fun playing with my Distress Watercolor Pencils, and I loved how the sentiments were turning out in the other two cards, I decided to play with the Abstract Butterfly Wing stamp that came out not long ago. I first made a trio of cards with a rainbow color scheme. Using the following Distress Watercolor Pencil colors:
- picked raspberry
- candied apple
- spiced marmalade
- mustard seed
- twisted citron
- salvaged patina
- salty ocean
- shaded lilac
Scribbling the Distress Watercolor Pencil directly onto the stamp, misting with water and then stamping it onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I then misted it with water again, stamped it on a new piece of paper, and THEN one more time, misted with water and stamped it onto a new piece of paper. This gives you 3 quick backgrounds, and I love how each of them look so different.
To add some sparkle to these cards I used glossy accents to fill in some of the gaps in the wing, and then sprinked Prisma Glitter. This gives a fun dimensional sparkle!
Since I was loving this outcome I decided to make a few more, with different color schemes. I did a more purple background using:
- seedless preserves
- shaded lilac
- picked raspberry
- villainous potion
- hickory smoke
- black soot
And then I did a more traditional butterfly color scheme using:
- crackling campfire
- spiced marmalade
- wild honey
- fossilized amber
- mustard seed
