Joy To You and Yours, Simon Says Stamp Card Kit
I had so much fun creating these cards with the latest card kit from Simon Says Stamp, and I loved the patterned papers included in the kit so much that I made a quick set of cards with those as well! Be sure to read to the end, there is a lot of inspiration in this post!
For these two cards, I used the main image in the Joy to You and Yours 6×8 stamp set included in the kit. I started by scribbling directly on the stamp with Distress Watercolor pencils, stamping onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock, and keeping the stamp in place with the Misti, I then inked the image again with Tea Dye and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, and stamping over the dried watercolor pencil impression.
I then added some gold splatters using the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette. For the sentiments I used ones from the Joy to You and Yours 6×8 stamp set. One of them I cut to mimic the ticket shape. The other I embossed in gold. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool so I don’t get any stray bits anywhere and I get a nice smooth emboss.
If you would like to see some more projects I have created with Distress Watercolor Pencils, you can here. I have an online class all about Distress Watercolor Pencils – see more details here.
I then trimmed the cards down and matted them on red cardstock. Lastly, I added a few gold sequins.
I love how artsy and vintage these cards look! For this next set of cards, I let the patterned papers included in the kit to inspire them and I had a lot of fun with that!
I stamped out the sentiments from the Joy to You and Yours 6×8 stamp set using Distress Oxide Inks in Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo and LumberJack Plaid. I then trimmed/cut them out. I added a touch of sparkle to each of them with a Quickie Glue Pen and Prisma Glitter. I then picked the patterned papers I wanted to work with, trimming down the front layer, and roughing up the edges with a Paper Distresser.
These cards came together so quickly, that if you haven’t been following along with my Get Cracking on Christmas series, they are perfect if you are in a time crunch! I hope these cards have inspired you AND there are so many other supplies in the kit I have yet to play with- so even MORE cards to come! Get your kit here!

do you have a video showing how you used the water color pencils? I like the look but don’t understand how you did that. Did you add water?
hi! Yes, I did a very similar card design in this quick video here https://www.instagram.com/reel/Clbijy4ucTU/
