This challenge is all about Christmas in July! As many of you know I create holiday cards all year long as part of my Get Cracking on Christmas Series. I love to create them throughout the year so I am less stressed in the fall as the holidays approach! July is a perfect time to start thinking about holiday cards!
Before I share my card with you, I just wanted to mention that although I won’t have any new classes in July or August, as I hope to have some mermaid time – I have several classes available and you can still take all of them. Alright, now to the fun card I have to share with you-
Holiday Deer, Lawn Fawnatics
For this card, I started with the background. A little ink smooshing on Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Twisted Citron and Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink. I then diecut the background with the largest stitched rectangle of the Outside In Stitched Rectangle set. I stamped “happy holidays” from Winter Scripty Sentiments using Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide. I used the mini Misti, so I could stamp the sentiment a few times and make sure it was nice and bold against the ink-smooshed background.
Next, I started to create the deer using the Cheery Deer die set. I cut the main deer pieces with Ground Coffee Lawn Fawn Cardstock, and the front part of the deer out of Distress White Heavystock. I used some Best Ever Craft Tape, to keep all the pieces together as one, to make it easier to color the pieces with Copic Markers.
I die-cut the string of lights out of the gold sparkle paper that is part of the Holiday Sparkle pack and Distress White Heavystock. Again, I added some Best Ever Craft Tape to the back of the white cardstock lights to make coloring with Copics easier.
Once I was done coloring, I put the “puzzle pieces” together with a Lawn Fawn glue tube. I die-cut a scalloped border from Rooftop Border. I used this as a place for the deer to sit.
Once I placed the border and deer with some foam squares, I sprinkled a few stars that I cut out of Gold Sparkle cardstock using Hearts & Stars Tiny Tag. I used a Lawn Fawn glue tube, dotting some glue on the background and using a Gem Pick Up tool to place the stars into the glue.
I then ink blended the edges of the card base with Twisted Citron and Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink, opposite as the ink smooshing, and added the outside in Stitched Rectangle to the card base with foam tape
Lastly, I added some black glaze pen to the hooves and nose of the deer, and a generous amount of Glossy Accents to the Christmas lights.
