NOTE: If you are looking for the NOVEMBER release from Colorado Craft/ Anita Jeram you can find it here
Alright you guys, ONE MONTH until Christmas! Time to get cracking on those holiday cards, so I am encouraging YOU to start creating your holiday cards NOW – so you will have a nice stack of creations ready for the next holiday season.
For the past few years, I have been creating a few holiday cards each month so that I am more prepared when November comes around. I enjoy making the cards so much more when I have time to play with different supplies and techniques. I share these cards on the third Thursday of each month. You can see previous Get Cracking on Christmas posts here.
In December, I asked people in my {creative chick} studio share Facebook group, that if you didn’t send holiday cards in 2020, what were the reasons. One of the most common responses was they didn’t have enough time.
So I was thinking, how can I give you time? And I came up with a plan! I know that you enjoy when I host LIVEs and share with you a technique, or how I created a card- so this year each month for Get Cracking on Christmas I am going to host a LIVE. During these LIVEs, I encourage you to join me and start to Get Cracking on your OWN holiday cards. You can do something similar to mine, or just work on your own thing. Doesn’t matter, just show up and create!
This month’s YouTube LIVE will be, tomorrow, November 19th at 8:00p ET right on my YouTube channel here. Stop reading, and set an alarm now on your phone so you don’t miss out. You can use the world clock here to figure out what time it will be where you live. Watch the replay below!
Want a reminder text on your phone before I go LIVE? Text “jennshurkus” to 833-758-0501
Don’t worry, if you can’t make my LIVE you can always catch the replay on my YouTube channel, and I will also post the video below.

I do have some wicked creative friends sharing their holiday cards today to inspire you!
Get Cracking: Make The Moose Out Of Life
This card can work for a holiday card, but it also can work for a winter greeting LOVE that! I started with the Moose Mountain set from Newton’s Nook. I think these guys are SO cute, and they were a lot of fun to color. I stamped them on 80# Neenah Cardstock (Lawn Fawn white cardstock is just that) with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink, and colored them with Copic Markers.
I also stamped and die-cut a few of the snowflakes with Blush and Cheeky Pawsitively Saturated Inks from Simon Says Stamp. I am in LOVE with these inks and you are sure to see more of them in upcoming posts and projects! I will share more thoughts about them during my YouTube LIVE!
Next, I worked on the background, I stenciled Newton’s Nook Petite Snow, on a piece of Distress White Heavystock with Seafoam ink and a blender brush using the 7″ Stay-tion. I then stamped a few of the snowflakes directly onto the background with the same Cheeky and Blush inks.
Next, I diecut a Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloudy border, out of Distress White Heavystock. I love to use this border for snow as well as clouds. I also diecut a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside, and out of that, I cut a slider shape from Lawn Fawn’s Slide On Over.
I spread some Distress Snowfall Grit Paste from the Limited Edition Holiday Texture Set on the tops of both of these borders and let dry. If you don’t have this, you can use regular Distress Grit Paste instead.
I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black and then added some Prisma Glitter with a Quickie Glue Pen to some parts of the jackets, and some of the snowflakes. Then I assembled the slider with a penny and both moose to the card. I finished it off with a little bit of glossy accents on each pair of goggles.
