I will continue to create holiday cards with NO STRESS, using stamps and supplies I haven’t had a chance to play with yet and experimenting with different techniques.

Get Cracking: Coloring Kitties
I have a stash of Newtons Nook Designs, one of my favorite companies, and I hadn’t had a chance to create with this Cat Christmas Tree set. And don’t worry, if you are team dog, they have a set for you too!
I started by ink blending a Distress White Heavy stock panel with the following Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Salvaged Patina, and Twisted Citron. Using larger blending brushes, like these from Honey Bee Stamps will help you get a smoother background. Also, paper matters! My favorite is Distress White Heavystock.
I then laid the Newton’s Nook Design Petite Snowflake stencil over the background, holding it in place with the Make Art STAY-tion and ink blended with the following Distress Inks: Festive Berries, Peacock Feathers, and Mowed Lawn. I then die-cut it out with the largest stitched rectangle in Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables.
In between colors, I would wipe the stencil with a flour sack cloth to take the previous ink color off and not have colors mix.
I then stamped out the cat tree and some smaller elements included in the Cat Christmas Tree stamp set with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink onto Neenah cardstock. I colored them all with Copic markers. I am sharing the swatches of the colors I used and also which markers I specifically used for each kind of cat below so you can easily recreate them with the coloring medium you choose. I added some white gel pen details to the kitties cheeks and Christmas lights. I also added some sparkle with a Quickie Glue Pen and Prisma Glitter.
For the sentiment, I then gold embossed one of the sentiments from the Cat Christmas Tree stamp set on a piece of white cardstock, and another on the inside of the card. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. I stamp the image several times using a Misti and Versamark ink, then sprinkle the Gilded Gold embossing powder from Brutus Monroe. I also die-cut “MEOWY” out of gold metallic cardstock with Henry’s ABCs from Lawn Fawn. I cut the smaller words into “word fetti” and adhered all of the sentiment with foam strips.
