Watercoloring Winter Greetings

Hi everyone! I find that this time of year I am always in the need of some cards to send out as “thank yous” or to send to people I might have forgotten to send holiday cards to. So I have a fun stack of cards I created with some of Newton’s Nook supplies and an easy watercolor technique. I hope you enjoy this tutorial video!

Watercoloring Winter Greetings

For these sparkly winter greetings, I used Newton’s Nook Snowfall Roundabout and Snowman Roundabout. I started by white embossing the main images on Distress Watercolor Cardstock, the smooth side.

I then watercolored the panels with Distress Ink (Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet). I used a variety of ways, and order of doing things which I demonstrated in my video, it all comes back to there is no right or wrong way, and to just PLAY with your Distress Inks!

Mixing Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust and water in a spritzer is a fun way to add water to your inky backgrounds and adding some shimmer at the same time.

Once the backgrounds were watercolored, I diecut them with the Newton’s Nook Circle Frames Die. I used the same die set to cut scalloped circles out of silver sparkle cardstock.

I stamped a variety of the sentiments from the two sets in both Peacock and Sugarplum Lawn Fawn Ink.

For the backgrounds to the cards I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Windy Backdrop.  Placing all the elements together on the card was a lot of fun, switching up the positioning and placement. Lastly, I added glossy accents to the hearts on the cards, to make my own embellishments.
