Ok, onto my project! I knew I wanted to give some love to a stamp set I haven’t used yet, and I also wanted to create a set of cards. I had an idea in mind right away, but before I share the finished projects I wanted to share a little reminder. I spent a long time creating 10 Distress Ink Backgrounds. I thought they were going to be perfect for the cards I had in mind. The process was super fun, but they ended up not working for this card set. At first, I was frustrated with the wasted time, but I just set them aside for another day. I think it’s a good reminder that not everything works out the way I want in my studio space the first try.
Ok, onto the success stories (haha)
Mister Harley decided he wanted to be featured on a bunch of birthday cards, and he wanted to dress up for the occasion. The perfect set for this is Newton’s Nook Costume Party
Since the ink smooshing backgrounds weren’t working for the card designs, I decided to do some ink blending with Distress Oxides. I used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers.
I then used Concord & 9th’s Confetti Card Die, to cut out the background. I also used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frames. Once I got the backgrounds all set up I stamped out 10 Mister Harley’s and all of the different costumes. I colored them with Copic Markers.
For the sentiments, I used “WOOT” (which is a word I use often, thats why I love this set so much) from the CZ Designs Birthday Palooza Stamp Set
I stamped it on vellum with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I stamped “It’s Your Birthday” on white strips of cardstock with Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Ink.
To finish off the cards, I added a little bit of Stardust Stickles here and there. I just wanted a touch of sparkle. Mister Harley really had a fun time dressing up in all the costumes, I hope you enjoy this card set!

Love the backgrounds and adorable cards! Looks like your cute kitty!
I am loving my Zig markers!
So far I love coloring with copics but I am still quite a newbie. I’ve enjoyed trying water color with some distress inks too. Your backgrounds are amazing!!
So far I like coloring with copics – even though I don’t really know what I’m doing …
Your cards are absolutely adorable!! I’m so glad I stopped by! I love colored pencils right now with copics being a very close second!!
I’ve never heard of Creative Chick but I am glad I found you on this blog hop. I am someone who loves to color and I have been coloring since I was a little girl. I got my first adult coloring book in 1981 so coloring books are not new to me. I love, love, love, love, and did I mention I love your cards? LOL You used my favorite color in the whole wide world in each of your cards, yellow. Those cats are so cute! You did am amazing job of coloring! I love what you did with the background cards on the ones you didn’t use. They look like something I did on a paper towel with Easter egg dye that was just something I did to see how it would look. It is so cool! You have to use it on something because it will look so amazing!
My favorite kind of coloring is with water colors (Twinkling H2Os), colored pencils, gel pens with and without glitter, crayons, and markers. If you stay in one place long enough, be aware that I might stamp on you and color you! LOL
Thank you for showing us your colorful cards and for giving us the chance to win something!
WHAT A SUPER SET OF CARDS! They’re colorful & cute! I LIKE the sparkle you’ve added too! Well, I like to color with Water Colors & Colored Pencils the most! BUT, I also like Alcohol Markers! To be honest, I LOVE ALL METHODS OF COLORING! LOL 😉
My favorite coloring medium are my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. They are so easy to use for watercoloring.
Adorable cards ! Love the backgrounds too! My favorite way of coloring right now is with my Copics. I do have a set of Zigs but haven’t been able to play with them much. I’m trying to learn how to blend my colors and felt that the copics would allow me to do more of that. I can’t wait to really get good at my blending so I can expand my collection and coloring with other products.
Aw, your little Newton’s Nook kitty cards are so CUTE! My favorite thing is my Spectrum Noir markers (dare I say more than my Copics?).
Adorable cards! Very bright and pretty! I have been really into using Zig Clean Color markets for coloring. Love the different ways they can be used and make blending very easy!
Such a cute set of cards! Love all the little costumes. I have many favorites for coloring. Right now I’m playing with the Spectrum Noir metallic markers and their sparkle markers.
I go back and forth between colored pencils and watercolors as my favorite. I love Mister Harley’s guest appearance in all these cards, though I suspect he might murder you if you tried to put him in any costume in real life. I know my cat would! Thanks for sharing and supporting Kathy and the coloring challenge.
Like these cards? More like LOVE these cards! This is my first time following along on the color challenge and I’m so glad I’ve found you! I love your blog and your style of card making. I look forward to seeing more! My favorite coloring option right now is colored pencils. I’m also doing a bit better with copics, but still have a lot to learn. Love how you combined so many products on your card set and they look adorable and perfect!
Before I answer the giveaway question, I have to say how cute Mister Harley looks playing dress-up, but I bet Gus Gus is a little jealous. Now, my favorite coloring medium this week (because it does change weekly, if not daily) is Zig Clean Color markers. I’ve been playing with them a bit and am amazed by how many different techniques there are for them.
What beautiful fun cards! I also loved how you kept it real and shared how something didn’t work out. (Happens to me way too often) 🙂 I am certain though you will find something fabulous to use them on. My current favorite is colored pencil. Thanks for the fun chance to win!
So many Mr. Harley cards! They are too cute & i know you had so much fun making them!
My favorite medium is definitely markers! I just invested in the Chameleons last week. They are fabulous but the learning curve is tricky!!
Such awesome cards-so fun!!! The backgrounds are just perfect!!! Right now now I’m having tons of fun with pencils and gamsol. But I love to color with about everything!!
Those cards are cute as a button!
My favorite medium is probably copics. I’m not great at them, but I like the way they work. Also like plain old ink!
I think your distress ink backgrounds are spectacular and I am glad you think you make mistakes too. I had a huge fail yesterday and ended up throwing away what I was trying to do; and then went and colored instead. Less of a failure but I felt better about it. Your fun colored cards make me smile and think that I should keep on trying. Failure is good because it shows us what does not work. Thanks for keeping it real and showing us fun and great ideas!
Thanks for the reminder that we all have things not turn out the way we picture them! Can’t wait to see what you end up making with the backgrounds.
My favorite way of coloring is with watercolors but sometimes I use Inktense Pencils instead or watercolor markers. I very rarely use colored pencils. I love playing with watercolors!
Love the birthday card set – the colors are so cheerful! My favorite coloring medium right now is watercolor pencils I think, the my do love my copic markers as well.
How fun and I love your cards so cute!
Such cute cards. I love pencil crayons, and have recently added Watercolors. With Watercolor pencils. I hope to be as good as you one day.
Very cute. I’m a Copic colorer most of the time.
I’m so new to this that I have experienced a lot of different methods.
Haven’t **
Your original bg papers are wonderful and I am sure will be used for a project soon. 🙂
I absolutely love the little kitty in your cards! Thank you for the reminder that I need to get this stamp set! Each one of the cards is adorable.
As for coloring, I almost always use my watercolor brushes and SU! Ink refills. That seems to be my go to for most projects.
Jenn, know exactly what you mean with your backgrounds cause I have done exactly the same as you, spending ages making Distress Oxide ones then deciding they just weren’t right but they always end up being used later. Lucky for us Tim came out with both types and the Distress Inks are a good fall back. Your cards couldn’t have turned out better. The backgrounds are bright and fabulous as are the diecut bits and the stamped critter with all his dressing up.
Now I feel I need to go shopping again. He really does look cute in those outfits. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
Just beautiful backgrounds (& cards)- love the blending. My fav is prob alcohol markers, unless the image is larger. I have a hard time blending then. Need to work on watercolor more- I really like the look!
First of all, I’m a sucker for cute kitty cards. I just love Newton’s Nook stamp sets. Your card set is adorable. I love everything about them. So freaking cute!
Super cute card set! Your cards are so colourful and fun:) I also love the ‘impressionist’ style backgrounds!
Such a fun set of cards ! I also love that you showed the ink smoochy backgrounds, this happens to me all the time lol! X
I think colored pencils are my favorite. But watercolors are next . Watercolors can be harder to do when on the go. And waiting for them to dry can be hard to do with little patience
What a fun set of cards. My favorite coloring medium is watercoloring with Distress Inks. If I have time I like to do some additional shading with colored pencils.
Very cute cards! I use watercolor pencils, but have bought some markers for this challenge. There have been so many helpful hints already, I’m so happy to be a part of this.
I love coloring with watercolors! I bet you had fun “playing” with all those “costumes”! Sorry about your smooshed paper backgrounds! Thanks for your inspiration!
Totally adorable cards!
Oh Jen these cards are just fantastic!! Don’t enter me for the drawing as I’m international but I just wanted you to know how cute your cards are – and I love how you used products from so many different companies!
Whose iI is the. I am sure you caryn use those beautiful backgrounds later for another project! 🙂
These cards are so much fun with the delightful costumes. My favourite method of colouring is water colours.
I’m so glad you are keeping the backgrounds that didn’t work for the final cards; they are beautiful and inspiration for their use will surely spark! Your Harley cards in his many costumes are adorable. Thanks for inspiring!
Please tell me that you had the camera running while you were creating those Distress Ink backgrounds! They are fantastic! Love the cards that you ended up with, but those backgrounds just make me drool!
Your cards featuring Mr. Harley are so cute!! I really like your ink smooshed backgrounds. Some of them make me think of Monet painting. I’m sure you will make something awesome with them. I really like to color with my Zig markers.
I do enjoy using markers, but am not as good as so many others, which is why I am thrilled to try this challenge. I also enjoy using colored pencils, anxious to try more mediums.
Beauti ful colors Jenn! I love coloring with my copics!
Sweet set of cards!! I’m sure the watercolor panels with turn into something fabulous!! I love to use my Spectrum Noir Markers to color!
My favorite coloring technique for images is Copic but I like Distress inks for backgrounds. 🙂
I like to color with Prismacolor pencils, but am also trying to use my Zig Clean Color Markers and do some watercoloring. I can tell it’s going to take more practice with those.
These are adorable! My grandson is a ‘cat person’. He love to get one of these cards for his birthday! Thanks for sharing your awesome talent!
Your card set is so cute and I love those DI backgrounds! They look like abstract watercolor flower gardens to me! I love DI for backgrounds, but prefer coloring with Copics.
love some of those color blend backgrounds. My fave is still colored pencils but I’m trying to stretch myself with alcohol markers more.
Such a ‘woot’ set of cards! Very creative, and m glad ypu shared your non-go set too,. My ‘go-to set ffor coloring are pencils, b/c I color alot on the go, & in th car.. & they dont easily mark up seat s & clothes–lol.
I just love to play with color, and my favorite thing is to wet some watercolor paper and start dropping in color and watching it move! I could make backgrounds like that all day (I keep wondering if there is another cardmaker out there who doesn’t like to do backgrounds and would like to team up with me!!!) I was a bit disappointed that you didn’t use the original backgrounds, but the ones you did use were probably better with that design, and they are beautiful. I sense a kindred spirit in these backgrounds. Thanks so much.
This is such an adorable and super fun set of cards ! I love the colorful die-cut backgrounds and the little touch of glitters here and there.
[margessw(at)icloud(dot)com]
Cute cards!! Well now you have a stash of background panels for other beautiful projects! By far my favorite coloring method is watercoloring, especially after I found out I could use archival ink for the outline stamps. 🙂
These techniques are so fun!
Wow, what an incredible amount of photos for your blog post. Thank you for all the time you took for this post. And thank you for a chance to win the set. My favorite coloring medium right now is Copics.
I LOVE resist technique and use it often…haven’t done smooshing yet but will soon since I love the way it looks…

favorite coloring method? colored pencil, for “coloring”. . . or squishing dew drop ink pads all over embossed backgrounds. . . or smearing around distress oxide inks and seeing what happens. . . or, when push comes to shove, there’s food coloring (yeah, that was an experiment that didn’t work).
and, just so’s you know, I was busy creating backgrounds that *I* couldn’t use in the MFT Wednesday Challenge right about the time you were creating your alcohol ink ones. LOL, and they aaaalll became notecards anyway. Just not the one i had hoped for. Necessity was an artist. . .
My fave method is still watercolors (always has been. my finances didnt allow me to get on the copic bandwagon so I just got better at watercololirng)< I love the idea of the costume stamps; I can insert different 'faces' in them I bet …. Thank you for your generosity.
My favorite method is using distress inks but I am learning now watercoloring daily with the help of this challenge…
My favorite method of coloring is with water color markers and using a water brush to blend. It is so fun to see your project transform.
I keep going back to distress inks for blending and coloring. Playing with the oxides is mesmerizing.
So cute… LOVED all the costumes!
Your cards are adorable!!! My favorite way of coloring is with copics with water coloring a close second. Thank you.
Mr. Harley looks like he had a lot of fun dressing up for these fun cards! I mostly color with my prisma color pencils but during this challenge I hope to try coloring with some markers and maybe doing some water coloring, too.
I definitely like anything watercolory because it’s more forgiving of all the mistakes I make! Your cards of your sweet kitty are fun, and the watercolor panels you show at the beginning of your blog post are gorgeous!
Love your cards! Awesome costumes and amazing backgrounds. My favorite coloring is with alcohol markers. They just blend like magic.
My favorite coloring medium is copic. I would like to start getting better at colored pencils though!
Your cards are wonderful and whimsical, but your original backgrounds are breath taking. I can’t wait to see what you create with those!
Super cute colorful Kitty cards! They are all awesome. Thanks for all the inspiration you share in our crafty community Jenn!
Definitely copics although I’ve really been enjoying watercolor lately.
Great inspiration! My favorite coloring technique is pencils and copics
Love the kats in all their finery.
Enjoyed reading about keeping unused backgrounds.
I have a stack of pages that I made with the
shaving cream technique. They come in handy
when I need a fast background that will blend in
with my design idea. I do a lot of stamping.
I’ve been using the Zig markers. they work for
me. No blops of paint when I don’t want any.
thanks for sharing

Very cute cards!
Love how you were able to produce so many cards by just changing up the costumes. For coloring, I like to use Copics, and distress inks.
Great cards! I usually color with colored pencils or Zigs but i’m trying to learn to use my Copics & watercolors.
Your cards are just adorable!
Your set of cards is
awesome! The bright
background is cool!
I prefer coloring with
Copics right now.
I forgot to tell you my fav way to color in my previous comment. Love using Zig markers to watercolor!
Such fun and colorful cards! Love all the layers, vibrant colors, frames, and dies!
OMG those costumes are just sooo cute. They are going on my list. Love all these designs.
Cute card set. Your distress backgrounds are so pretty. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.
Hi Jenn,Your cards are lovely and I completely loved your use of multi stamps so beautifully…thanks for inspiring!!
I like how you combined different stamp sets from different companies and also dies to come up with your cards. I love this. My favorite coloring method is with any type of marker. I’m not an expert but I just like to use both water based markers and alcohol markers.
Hi, I use Copics, I can’t believe you made so many cards. They are all so adorable, that stamp set is so cute, and I loved the 10 cards you did the smooshing on are the coolest, worth the time!!!!
I just love what you created–stunning. I have always been intimidated by coloring but recently purchased some Copics and am starting to enjoy coloring. I need to continue to practice to get better at it but will eventually get there.
Such fun! And a great reminder that there are no mistakes when you are creating!!!
They turned out beautifully – and now you still have some lovely backgrounds to use later! Copics are probably my favorite.
MR Harley did a great job on his birthday cards. Each and every one got a little more intense laugh. The lion hit it out of the park!
You are right, never discard any of those flops. Someday they will be perfect for another project. Love the ombre look of the backgrounds you did you. The series of cards would make a great gift for a shut-in to have cards on hand.
My favorite way of coloring changes with the day really. I like colored pencils, crayons, markers, paint, you name it I probably enjoy it!
I’ve used colored pencils the most, but have been experimenting with some other mediums lately too. Love those backgrounds you weren’t able to use—the colors are so pretty! Cute card!
I think your cards turned out wonderful. You’re not the only one to have a plan not work the first time, but I am happy to hear you’re so optimistic and just keep the tainted backgrounds for another day.
Thank you for sharing and hosting your own giveaway along with he color challenge giveaway. That stamp set is adorable!
Oh my! I was thinking how cute the cards were….then you added the Stickles!!!
love those super cute cards!
hugs
Oh my gosh, those Newton cards are so darn cute. I can’t resist a cute critter in costumes! My favorite coloring technique is dye markers but I’m still not very good at it. I need lots of practice, lol.
fAB technique and creations. I love using the distress inks, water color pens and Copics.
I agree don’t throw away what you think are flops. After they dry they seem to change. I like what you created and cant wait to see how you use them. I just subscribed to your blog so I will get to see your awesome creations. Your cards you made and so cute. Great stamps and dies. The Oxide backgrounds turned out awesome. Sweet cards.
Adorable! So cute!! And you inspired me with backgrounds, thanks!
Super cute birthday cards, and I really love your distress ink backgrounds! I love using markers, I need to try other mediums as well but markers is my go to medium.
Your set of cards are wonderful! And I am sooooo excited to see what you do with those backgrounds that you created (and haven’t yet used)………I like they are beautiful & colorful! Thank you for your inspiration.
It’s almost impossible to choose jut one coloring medium. Right now I’m using my Zig Clean Color markers!
Your cards are so cute and I love the different head pieces Harley is sporting. My current favorite is alcohol markers but my first love was distress inks, Trying my hand at water coloring next.
Aww this card set is adorable! Love your backgrounds. My favorite method is watercolor even though I’m not that good by I want to try more alcohol marker and pencil during the challenge.
Such cute cards! Look forward to see what you do with those backgrounds you didn’t like.
Cute cards!
I just got that Newton’s Nook Costume Party set in the mail yesterday!! I love all your cards! Currently I go to my Kuretake Zigs or watercoloring with Distress Inks and a water brush.!
I love the sentiments!!! Great card! My favorite medium for coloring is Copics.
As a kitty mom, I can totally relate to your adorable set of cards! Such a cute idea! My favorite coloring medium is colored pencils, but I am branching out and giving markers a try.
Jenn I fancy the lion “Roar”! My favorite coloring tool is watercolors, the Zig or Arteza Real Brush Pens. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
M. from TX
Love your background. Pretty set of cards. I love using my Copic markers but I also love using my Zig’s just as much.
So cute and colorful and I like the sparkle. I like the backgrounds you made at first too. I like to color with Copic markers.

Very cute cards. My favorite is the Lion…”Roar”! My favorite coloring tool is the clean brush marker, whether Zig or Azrtea. Thanks for inspiring us!
I love your backgrounds. I tend to use Copics a lot for my coloring but once in awhile use pencils to change it up. Thanks for the chance to win!
Cute and adorable cards. I like my prismacolor pencils.
Oh my gosh! They all turned out adorable. I love the little lion:) Can’t wait to see what you do with the Distress backgrounds you made-they are beautiful. I love to color with Copics and Prisma pencils, but really want to learn to watercolor.
Love this stamp set. Who wouldn’t love a kitty who dresses up? Thank You for participating.
Oh wow these are super cute!! Great inspiration!
Mr.Harley has a beautiful set of cards!
My fave medium is copics!
I have this Lawn Fawn set so don’t pick me. 😁
Love your cards. So cute. I have been trying watercoloring. So far I am having fun
I love that you made a set of cards. Sometimes it’s just as easy to get through 5-6 as it is to finish 1. My favorite is colored pencils and I got a large set of Crayolas so my kids can share with me.
My favorite new-to-me way to color is with colored pencils and gamsol. I’m sure I just need more practice but I almost always go about a water ballon too far with watercolor and have to start over! Lol
Great colors! I have enjoyed my Prismacolor pencils and am working on improving my skills with Copic markers.
Love those backgrounds even though you didn’t use, a great technique. Now onto yout cards Jenn, super, super cute and I love WOOT!
These cards are precious! Love all the color and costumes! I love water coloring but need to practice!!
Love the colorful set of cards. And your Mister Harley is adorable in real life and on a stamp. I guess my favorite medium for coloring is copics but I like using different mediums.
These cards are so sweet. My nephews would be so excited to get a card like this. I usually use Prisma Colored Pencils as I like the effect.
Oh Jenn, your set of cards are absolutely sweet, as is Mister Harley… Its too bad your backgrounds didn’t workout for these cards but they are really pretty. I am sure you’ll find a good use for them soon enough.
Those “failed” backgrounds are awesome and I can see them being used simply with a bold big die cut saying THANKS, or happy birthday. Thanks for sharing that story!
Your successful cards are very very cute!
I find I am liking watercolours for colouring since you can go precise or just loose with them. I love your ink blended backgrounds with these cute images and fun sentiment set.
what a fun set of cards you created with this cute stamp set! love to color with copics or zigs!
Adorable and so fun! Love all the critters dressing up! I love my colored pencils
It’s a toss up, I really like Copic coloring but I also love watercoloring!
Love using my colored pencils.
WOW!! Newton in all the different costumes is soooo cute! And I love the confetti background.
My fav way to color is Copic markers, coz they are easier to control and gives such depth and vibrancy.
For me, I splurged & purchased a set of the Arteza Brush Markers and I love all the colors they have in the set. I watercolor with them & love the results.
Love the techniques, I’ve been using the distress inks with my water color pens. Great results.
Mr. Harley is super cute in all those costumes! My favorite coloring medium is Copic markers. But I am practicing with watercolor markers and Gansai Tambi pan set for this challenge.
Great cards! I love to use my copics!
SQUEAL!! BEAUTIFUL Cards!! I LOVE the Images and Coloring!! My FAVORITE Method for coloring lately would be Copic Markers!! THANKS for sharing and have a FABULOUS WEEK!!
Just love your cards. I love to color almost any medium is fine with me , love water coloring also alcohol markers.
Oh my goodness!!! These are SO fun and utterly adorable! LOVE them!! ♥
Favorite coloring medium? I don’t have one….I love them all….from crayons and pencils to Copics and watercolor. I just LOVE color 😉
My favorite way to color is with colored pencils. I love the shading I can get with them. Yes, I need to practice more with markers. It’s the time to practice I have the most problems with.
Your cards are really cute. I love your backgrounds that didn’t work, too. You’ll find the perfect way to use them.
Being a fur baby mama I just adored your cards. Too cute💕
I’m torn between colored pencils and Zig clean color brush pens. I love your smoosh backgrounds! And your cards are soooo Cute!!! Thanks
Fun Rainbow backgrounds and your touches of glitter are spot on. AND that kitty set is adorable.
I really like your pre made backgrounds too, looking forward to a future post seeing those in action.
First of all, your Distress Ink Backgrounds are awesome and I’m sure you will find a use for them in a future project. I appreciate the reminder as I am always disappointed when my projects don’t turn out the way I’m envisioning until I remind myself that 1) I’m still learning 2) This is supposed to be fun 3) It’s the thought that counts! I would say my favorite coloring medium right now is watercoloring. I’m new to it but find it so relaxing.
I loved visiting your blog today, as a fellow cat lover I went and looked at your lovely pictures of your babies. Both of them are so beautiful. Gus reminds me of my sweet Salem. Mister Harley is so beautiful and you did a wonderful job capturing him on your card set. I think they are just adorable. I did love your distress backgrounds and I know you will find something wonderful to do with them. Thanks and have a great day.
Such cute cards!! I haven’t a favorite at the moment. I am learning how to use the watercolor pens and colored pencils so I guess that is my favorite right now. LOL!!
These cards are all absolutely adorable! I’m so glad you showed how you changed tack during the card making process. I do that all the time, and it’s nice to know I’m not alone. (Although I do have rather a large pile of half cards that I should use!)
These are just too cute!! I NEED those sentiments!! And it is so funny because I think all your “mistakes” look FABULOUS!!
Great set of cards. I love my colored pencils because I do best with them. I’ve been working on watercolors and copics so I hope to have more than one good choice. Thanks.
I’ve tried so many different mediums for coloring but I always go back to my first love- the big box of crayons. When I use them the need for perfection is gone and I always feel happy when I use them.
I’m actually more interested in the distress ink backgrounds that you didn’t use! Do you have another post showing how you made them?
Awwww, I love Newton and these cards are so fun. Love the rainbow backgrounds and Newton’s costumes. I’m learning how to use alcohol markers right now but just a beginner.
omg this is just adorable. it took me a minute to realize it was a cat. so i’m a little dense sometimes. I wonder if there is a dog to dress up too. love these cards.
oh, I forgot my fav. coloring medium is just plain old ink pads. 🙂
Such cute cards! Thank you for sharing!
The card set is adorable – my favorite is the shark costume. Hysterical! My favorite coloring medium is straight up stamping with inks. I love my Distress inks as well with all the techniques. I’m not much of a coloring person which is why this challenge is – well a challenge!
Great cards, and thanks for the reminder that even the “professionals” go through some trial and error at times. Thanks for sharing! I like Copics best for coloring.
Your cards are ao cute. Im just starting card msking and have only colored markers. I need lots of practice and would love to do water coloring somewhat decent.! Thanks for sharing.
Adorable & fun collection of cards! I love how the subtle coloring on the critters make them pop against the vibrant backgrounds. Looking forward to seeing how you use the distressed backgrounds. I’ve been having fun playing around with a number of coloring mediums but my go to is water coloring with ink pads.
Wow what a great Set of cards, I like copics and distress inks.
I love to color with COPICS of course! I love your backgrounds on these and the glitter accents! SO CUTE!
I love anything with Kitties and your card made me smile. Great backgrounds. Please don’t throw them away. My favorite way to color is pencils and Gamsol.
Wow! The cards are so adorable! Love using my copic markers!
I love that you shared what you hoped would make a beautiful card and changed along the way! Thank you! The stam set is adorable.
Your cards are pretty and sweet. I love to use pencil coloring and distress inks in my cards and ink blending in ombre pattern is my favorite technique.
I want to thank you for including the part about the 10 backgrounds you didn’t use this time and how you initially thought of it as wasted time. All too often we beat ourselves up when things don’t go perfectly the first time, and this was a positive spin on the effort we could all benefit from! Your final cards are adorable! As for coloring images, I’ve been on a kick with colored pencils since Yana has been posting her Polychromos works of art. I’m using Prismas but I’m still enjoying the process and learning 🙂
Cute cards! I look forward to seeing what you do with your other backgrounds.
Love this a cute set of cards. I’m sure you’ll come up with something beautiful for the other backgrounds you created. I love to try my hand at watercolor, with some success and some NOT! Colored pencil is a very close second to watercolor. I love to see what others create with Copics, but they are not for me!
Oh my goodness, Mr. Harley certainly loves to play dress up! Love this set of absolutely adorable cards! My favorite method of coloring is transitioning-I’ve watercolored for years and am just now learning to use Copics, so they are currently my favorite method of coloring. Thanks for the fun inspiration!
AWESOME card set, love the added sparkle. Watercolor is my favorite with Copics close behind
Mister Harley must be exhausted after all those costume changes. I use Prisma Pencils.
My favorite is colored pencils and gamsol. Love this cute set of cards.
Bright and colorful! Cute cards.
So fun and colorful!
Very beautiful cards. I am on a watercolor kick right now. I love using my distress inks for coloring. I have also bought the Zig Clean Color brush pens recently. Though I haven’t really had the nerve to start using them much yet.
Beautiful coloring and I love all the costume changes! So cute. I love coloring with watercolors but want to practice more with alcohol markers. Thanks for the chance to win!
WOOT, WOOT, Jenn! These are ALL fabulous! I love these cards and how you went with a new idea after your original plan didn’t quite go how you envisioned. Can’t wait to see how you use those backgrounds though! 🙂
Mr. Harley looks quite dashing in all of his finery and I especially adore the lion’s mane. Right now, I would have to say my favorite method of coloring is watercolor with my Distress inks, Zigs, Gansai Tambai or Daniel Smith dots.
I love me some color pencils, watercolors and markers but I usually tend to gravitate toward the markers more than the others (when I don’t just go for a graphite gray scale)
I hope to see what you create with those beautiful inked back grounds. I agree , what you went with for these cards fits much better.
I love coloring with copics.
Your cards are really adorable ! I love the happy colors, they are so perfect to celebrate a birthday !
NND, LF, Concord, SSS…. Your cards are really a fantastic mix of stamps, just like Kathy’s creation !
As for my favorite coloring method, I would say it’s alcohol markers. It’s mainly because I feel more confortable with them than with my color pencils or with watercolor. But I’m working every day to improve my techniques !!!
I love these and the costumes are so cite. You colour choices are amazing!
These are amazing!! Love the costumes and colours.
awesome smooshed backgrounds – very colorful:)
I love coloring with copic markers:)
Oh these are just too adorable for words!! Also loved your Distress Inked backgrounds. I’ve learned to never throw things away….I just finished making up some cards using some distress ink backgrounds I had made several months ago but wasn’t sure what to do with. Loved how they turned out & was happy I didn’t wast them!!
Love to ink smoosh and watercolor!
Darling cards. Beautiful backgrounds
Thank you for sharing! My favorite is Copic (marker) coloring but I have recently started water coloring
My lil nephew loves sharks so your cat dressed up as a shark so simply to cute! My favorite coloring at the moment is watercoloring.
Love these cards! And the backgrounds you created but didn’t use… I love coloring, and at the moment I am favoring colored pencils.
My favorite coloring medium at the moment is Copics. Your cards are lovely!
Newton is adorable.
My favorite method of coloring is anything FAST. I don’t the have patience for long coloring processes.
That’s probably why my results aren’t as awesome as the ones on this hop.
Love your entire set of cards! My favorite coloring medium is Copics but I also enjoy Prismacolor pencils, Inktense pencils and painting with distress ink refills.
Your card is so lovely. What a great way to color. My favorite medium for coloring is watercolor, seems the easiest since I am not so good at coloring! : )
Your cards are so cute!! It’s difficult for me to select a favorite method for coloring since I am just learning most of them. At this point in my journey, I might say alcohol markers. It’s all a process.
Love the successes and mistakes! Thanks for that inspiration and for sharing Mr. Harley in your adorable card set. Can’t wait to see more of your work during the challenge this month!
That stamp set is so cute. Love all the cards. I like to use watercolor pencils to color with.
Your cards are all super adorable, Jenn! I know the feeling all too well of spending lots of time on something and then not being able to use it for what you had in mind. I’ve been collecting all my projects like this and I think I’ll have a day where I try to create using nothing but those projects <3
My favorite coloring method is probably alcohol markers with very basic technique haha <3
What an adorable set of cards! Gotta love those Newton critters. I love your distress ink backgrounds too, and I’m sure they’ll be put to good use another time. Thanks for the inspiration and for your generous giveaway!
Love these cards, so fun! My favorite coloring method is using Zig Clean Color Markers – so fast and easy.
My favorite is watercolour I think but I want to perform my tecnic with copics I love as well
What an adorable set you created, I love your great colouring and fantastic details! My current favourite colouring medium are ZIGs – they’re very forgiving and give fantastic results. Thank you so much for being part of Kathy’s wonderful hop and challenge!
Great reminder on accepting that not everything works first time but keep them for the future, your set of cards are fab. Loving how bright and funky they are and so much details on the backgrounds, loving that die. I’m still just learning the blending technique with distress inks but I’m trying. My absolute favourite medium so far is coloured pencil and I’m just trying out the new Faber Castell. I can’t enter your give away as I love I’m England but good luck to everyone x
Super cute card set, love the DOX ink blended backgrounds for these adorable critters all dressed up. Love to see what you make with your water color backgrounds next too!
These are all great cards, Jenn, and Me. Harley looks wicked stylish! My favorite medium is Comics.
Your card is adorable. I love your distressed background too. Thank you for the inspiration.
Boy, mister Harley must be tired from all of those costume changes! Your cards are the cutest… I’ve just started to make 4 -5 cards at a time, different versions of the same theme. I use mostly watercolor, but love them all..
That cat stamp set is so cute! I think my favorite would have to be the lion costume but they’re all adorable! Thank you for sharing your coloring with us!
Wow ! This “splash” effect is just amazing !
Thanks for sharing and the chance to win !
Well, I really liked your watercolored backgrounds. Think you needed some white die-cuts over them to show them off!! However, your final version of your card set is really cute!! I like the way you made each a different animal but kept the rest of the card the same. Does make a good card set for someone to enjoy! Thanks for a great idea with the scalloped frame and the inks background the same.
Such cute cards! BTW, I love the Distress Ink backgrounds that you didn’t use for this set of cards. Thank you for sharing them along with your cards.
I am totally intimidated by watercolors, so colored pencils are my go to tool.
Jean your cards are so so adorable! Those backgrounds you started with are also gorgeous and sure they will be the perfect fit on another project. Thank you for offering your own giveaway as well. I would love this lawn Fawn set if I were to be the lucky one to win it. Thanks for sharing your time and talent on this amazing hop,! 😍
So cute!! Thanks for adding your own giveaway.
What adorable cards!! I love the backgrounds!!!
My favorite coloring medium right now is my Copic Markers!
This kitty is so cute and the colors of your backgrounds are amazing.
Nice set. I like that you set your backgrounds aside for another day, rather than toss them. Kind of cute seeing the critter dressed up on so many costumes. My favorite coloring medium is colored pencils. I often reach for markers first, but really enjoy coloring with pencils.
These are so cute! 🙂 I tend to use markers and colored pencils for my coloring. I would love to start getting into watercoloring too.
Very pretty cards! I love copics for coloring!
Oh, these are super cute!! I’ve gotten better with Copics, but would love to spend more time with watercolors and pencils.
Right now my favorite is colored pencils, it is very slow but more forgiving when my cat decides to plop down on my project. These cards are SO cute and those watercolored backgrounds will make some amazing cards later.
Those cards are adorable! I love Newton’s Nook!
My favorite way to color right right now is my Chameleon Pens. I am having so much fun with them.
So cute! Love the way you added sparkle
Love the blended background and the Newton stamp set. I have a background ready made and just need to find a great outline stamp to color.
Very nice cards ! My heart shift between copics and watercolors can’t decide ….
Your right nothing is a waste. Just save it for the next project. Your cards turned out so cute. My favorite coloring medium is probably watercolors because they are so forgiving and you can get so many different looks.
Your cards are all amazing, Jenn! Love the backgrounds you made; they will come in handy for something in the future. My favorite coloring medium is colored pencils.
Super creative cards! AND I can’t tell you how many times I started a project with one theme in mind and ended up not using what was intended and switched to something else entirely! I just put it aside and work it into another project. Thanks for the inspiration.33
Wow! I just love all of these! The blended background was is so pretty and the costumed kitties are adorable.
Alcohol markers are my favorite, but I am trying to stretch my wings and try some new things with this challenge. I love your smooshed backgrounds, they will make some wonderful cards! I have been playing around with smooshing and I am having so much fun!
Jen, these are so stinkin’ adorable!! I want those kitties!!! Such fabulous coloring too!!
Thanks for the remaining beer that if something doesn’t work today it may for another day. Such fun birthday cards you made!
Cute cards and the ink blended backgrounds are amazing!
I’m new to Copics so it’s my favorite right now. But I also love my Oxides . The backgrounds you created are so pretty .
I really enjoy using alcohol markers! Your cards are adorable!
Through videos and classes, I’m just beginning to learn alcohol markers, but the artwork I stamp makes that happen. Don’t you love those kitty paws in your cards? Very cute! TX
Very cute Jenn!
I really prefer to work with water colors. I find it easier to hide mistakes.
Love the stash of birthday cards you made. The stamp set is so darn cute.
Jenn, I love your set of cards! Those dressed up kitten images are so stinkin’ cute! I agree.. sometimes things don’t work out in my craft room, so I have a box of things I set aside when they don’t work out for my card. Die cuts, stamped images, backgrounds. Somehow I seem to use them eventually, especially if I keep them where I see them so they inspire me.
Really fun and colourful cards Jenn x
Oh my goodness! I love those cards! My favorite coloring medium is colored pencil. I’m trying to do more marker coloring and watercoloring during this 30 day challenge.
