Note: I am wicked excited to be guest posting over on Julie Fei-Fan Balzers blog today hope you will go check that out too!
So as I mentioned in yesterday’s Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge post- I LOVE the January Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp! I had so much fun playing with it and creating my challenge card, that I cranked out 9 more card designs- all thank you’s which are much needed this time of year! So, sit back relax and get ready for some eye candy!!
Note: I realize the January Card Kit is out of stock, but many of the individual items are still in stock and I have linked those below!
The kit included Grape Fizz Perfect Pearls, and an empty mini mister. I knew right away what I wanted to do with them! Create shimmer spray of course! This is something I learned in Ranger U years ago!
Custom Shimmer Mist Formula:
- small amount of Perfect pearls, use the end of your paintbrush for a “scoops” worth.
- a dropper full of Distress Ink re-inker
- put both in the mini mister, then fill the mini mister with water, almost all the way full. Leave some room for some shaking.
Tip: you can use any combination of perfect pearls and distress re-inkers so there are SO many possibilities of colors!
I used my purple shimmer mist on some distress watercolor paper for the background on this first card. I also used different bits of the pattern papers from the kit and cut my own banners, attaching them with the tiny attacher.
Now onto the other really fun designs! For this next card the only thing I added were some Snowflake die cuts and I used a quickie glue pen and ultrafine glitter on the word “thanks”. I LOVE the diagonal line pattern paper you see here.
The kit included this beautiful blue shimmer Bazzill cardstock. I added a few Lawn Fawn wood veneer snowflakes. I again used a quickie glue pen and ultrafine glitter on the word “thanks”
I did some repetitive stamping on the background of this next card with some of the smaller images from the Hand Lettered Winter Wishes stamp set. I used Lawn Fawn’s stitched rectangle die and the SSS Eliza Snowflake diecut. I also added some white gel pen accents to the word “thanks”.
I LOVED this background paper from the Bo Bunny 6×6 paper pad.
This next one was a lot of fun. I used an edge distresser on the pattern paper for the background. I used the Ek Success powder tool on the back of the snowman postage stamp sticker, then put some foam tape on it to pop it up off the card. I used a bit more of my fave diagonal line pattern paper. Some more Lawn Fawn wood veneer snowflakes.
For the sentiment I put a layer of glossy accents over the letters, pretty thick. Once that was dry I went over it with diamond stickles, so there is a lot of dimension there!
For this next one, the background paper was so pretty I didn’t want to do too much to it. I added a few wood veneer snowflakes. The word “thank” I fussy cut out, and then stapled with the tiny attacher the word “you” . I trimmed the front of the card a bit short and added some more of that diagonal paper I was obsessing over. Would it be wrong to purchase the 6×6 pad of paper just so I can get 2 more sheets of that paper?!
Once the card was put together I put a few thick coats of glossy accents over the word “thank”
I really love how this next one came out. The ombre bokeh pattern is so pretty paired with the heart snowflake stamp from the set.
and for the last card I went all in 😉 I used the rest of that diagonal paper I had. I embellished it by adding ultra fine glitter on every other diagonal. SO.PRETTY. in person!
And just like that I had ten thank yous done 🙂 The tenth card being yesterdays Thank you for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! My studio table was a disaster. I had used most of the pattern papers given in the kit and the new stamp set was well loved! Remember even though the kit is sold out you can still purchase pieces of the kit individually from the links below!
These are all so pretty! I’m sure people will be pretty excited when they get their hands on these beauts. By the way – your mixed media background technique was stellar!
