Newton’s Nook Designs May Release: Newton’s Sick Day

05/12/2015

Newton's Nook Designs May ReleaseHello Everyone! If you are visiting from Newton’s Nook- Welcome!! I am wicked excited to be the guest designer for Jennifer at Newton’s Nook this month. I get to share with you all the new stamps this week along with the very talented design team! How cool is that!?!

Today the whole team is featuring “Newton’s Sick Day”. If you are new to Newton’s Nook- be sure to read all about the company and more importantly who Newton is 🙂 .

Even though I LOVE yellow tabby cats. I tend to color “Newton” to look like Mister Harley. That is what is so fun about these stamps is you can color them to look just like YOUR kitty 😉

Ok, onto the new goodies! Newton’s Sick Day is a fun set that I created this card with

Newton's Nook Designs May Release, Newton's Sick Day | shurkus.com

I used a bunch of the “sick day” icons and put them on a block at the same time, stamping them repetitively to create my background. The sick kitty, tissue box and pill bottle I colored with Watercolor pencils on Distress Watercolor paper. I fussy cut those out and adhered them to a stitched journaling card. I stamped a sprinkle of hearts and added some quickie glue pen and ultrafine glitter. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Black ink and added some glossy accents to the pill jar and his thermometer. Lastly I added some Mixed Accents here and there in between the hearts.

Is the purple to signify that Newton is kitty royalty? 🙂 Great card!

So fun to see how everyone colors Newton! I have cats of all colors and patterns (except calico and Siamese points) so I’d stay busy for a long time coloring Newton like my own! 🙂 This is such an adorable new set. Love what you did with it. The sparkly hearts are a lovely addition!!!
