Lucky Clovers – Lawn Fawn
Alright, I have a confession… I am obsessed with the new Clover Background Stencils.
This stencil set makes such fun backgrounds, and although they are clovers they don’t need to be used on just St. Patrick’s Day cards. Working on Distress White Heavy stock for both of these cards, I ink blended regular Distress Ink with the larger designed stencil. Using blender brushes and the Wendy Vecchi Stay-tion. I then ink blended with Distress Oxides and an ink blending tool/blending foam with the smaller designed stencil.
I used the following colors in regular Distress and Distress Oxide
- Picked Raspberry
- Mustard Seed
- Peacock Feathers
- Wilted Violet
Note: When using Dye-based inks, like regular Distress Inks I like to use blender brushes to get a softer, smoother look. When using Distress Oxides that have a pigment property to them, I use an ink blending tool with foam. Since they have a pigment property they are going to blend easier, and if using a brush the inks would gunk up the bristles.
Overlapping the Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed makes orange, and Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers make the green appear in the ink blend.
One of the backgrounds I kept as is, and the other I splattered some water droplets with the Distress Sprayer (as seen above).
I diecut the backgrounds with the largest Outside In Stitched Rectangle and matted it on Black Licorice cardstock.
Using the new Lucky Clovers Die set, I die cut them out of Distress White Heavystock. I then pressed Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink pad onto my craft sheet, spritzed it with water to create water droplets, and pressed the clovers into the inky puddles.
I dried them with the Ranger Heat tool. I then did a second layer with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide.
For the sentiments, I diecut the Scripty Hello out of Gold Sparkle cardstock and Black Licorice cardstock. I layered them together with the Lawn Fawn Glue Tube, offsetting them slightly.
Then I diecut a simple wavy banner and stamped a sentiment from Wavy Sayings for one card. For the other card, I diecut a banner from Everyday Sentiment Banners and stamped a sentiment from Celebration Scripty Sentiments.
Lastly, on both cards, I dabbed some Glossy Accents here and there on the clovers and sprinkled some Chunky Glitter.
I really love how these cards turned out, I hope they help you look at your clover supplies in a bit of a different way!
