Lawnscaping Challenge #98: Create a Background

This week on the Lawnscaping Challenge blog we are challenging you to create a background with your stamps! Be creative!

Lawnscaping Challenge #98: Create a Background | shurkus.com

I was inspired to use a bit of an older set, Hello Sunshine. I am so excited that Lawn Fawn recently released a die set for it! See how awesome that sun and bumble bee look cut out!? 🙂

Hello Sunshine, Frosty Friends

To create my background I stamped the solid cloud in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, then the open cloud in Peacock Feathers Distress Ink on Distress Watercolor Cardstock.

Lawnscaping Challenge #98: Create a Background | shurkus.com

I stamped the bee in Versafine Onyx Black Ink on Distress Watercolor cardstock and colored it in with Distress Inks (Wild Honey, Scattered Straw and a touch of Tumbled Glass on his wings)

For the sun: It is a solid stamp, so I inked it up in Wild Honey and Rusty Hing Distress Inks. I inked the whole image with Wild Honey and then just touched the Rusty Hinge ink pad here and there. I then used a waterbrush and painted over the image to give it that watercolor look.  After I die cut them out I added some quickie glue pen to the wings and down the sides of the sun rays and dipped them in ultrafine crystal glitter. Love the sparkle this gives!

I used foam tape to adhere them to the card, and then stamped the bee trail and the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink. Last but not least, there is a little solid heart in the set so I inked that in Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and stamped it, then added a little waterbrush over it.
