Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit

I was so excited to get this kit a little early AND have the time to sit down and play! This kit is full of awesomeness that I haven’t even touched on yet! The stamp set, Paper Hugs is SO very cute and the Crate Paper rub-ons and patterned papers are ADORABLE!

I was excited to see the gold gelato in the kit, and since that jumped out at me first that is what I played with. On the Distress Watercolor paper that came in the kit, I started by stamping and embossing in clear the falling heart image that is part of the Paper Hugs stamp set. The fine, detail clear embossing powder was included in the kit- and melted really well!

I then made a fun little pool of shimmering gold. I scribbled some of the gelato on my craft sheet, spritzed some water into it to make a fun paint – then I took that and painted it on the cardstock. I heat set it here and there and kept adding more and more layers. Since the hearts were embossed they were repelling the gelato.

When I was happy with how it looked I splattered some of the gold as well. To add more dimension I inked up the “xoxoxo” stamp that came in Paper Hugs set in the kit with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and stamped it here and there in bits and pieces. I LOVE how this turned out.

While all of that was drying, I cut a note card from the Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy cardstock that was in the kit and I gathered a couple of the Crate Paper Patterned papers, and cut them to size. I wanted to add a bit more texture to the card, so I used my paper edger to rough up the edges. I adhered them all together and then added some of the yummy Crate Paper Rub-ons to the card!

I really tried to capture the shimmer you get just from the gold gelato in my pictures, hope you can see just how pretty it is!
