Hello everyone! I am excited to participate in another year of the Get Cracking on Christmas series and wicked excited to work on my stash of holiday cards throughout the year! I will continue to create holiday cards with NO STRESS, using stamps and supplies I haven’t had a chance to play with yet and experimenting with different techniques.
If you missed my Crafty Chat in January, I went over Get Cracking on Christmas. Why I do it, my approach to it, and how you can join. Catch the replay here!

Get Cracking: Textured Snowflakes

Snowflakes + Sparkle with a Mixed Media Twist ❄️✨
It’s no secret, if a cute snowflake set is released, I have to have it! This is one of the many reasons I started Get Cracking on Christmas, so I can totally justify buying all the snowflake stamps and dies 😉. I couldn’t resist this adorable snowflake set from Pretty Pink Posh, and the Waffle Flower sentiment set I paired it with has such a great variety (and some really unique ones too!).
For these cards, I wanted to lean into a more artsy, textured look. I created both the backgrounds and the snowflakes using Distress Watercolor Pencils, and I had so much fun layering and playing with color. To add even more texture, I distressed the edges of the Distress Watercolor Cardstock with a paper distresser, brushed on bits of Distress Collage Medium, and sprinkled Distress Rock Candy Chunky Glitter over the tacky areas for a frosted effect. A touch of Distress Rock Candy Clear Glitter on the snowflakes adds that extra sparkle we all love!
The sentiments are gold embossed, and I matted each panel onto Tim Holtz Sparkle Kraftstock. It’s such a gorgeous shimmer cardstock. I even used some of the leftover scraps to die-cut tiny paper sequins for a coordinating finishing touch.
I love how these turned out, non-traditional colors, tons of texture, and all the sparkle! 💙 I can’t wait to walk you through the full process during my upcoming YouTube LIVE, I hope you’ll join me!
