Hi everyone! I can’t believe that the last time I posted was for the last “Get Cracking”! It has been a busy busy busy fall with lots of travels, lots of teaching and TONS of fun!
Have you started your holiday cards yet? Do you need some inspiration? You can look back at all of my Get Cracking posts from the year here
I am going to guess that most of you who are reading this post haven’t started yet. So a few of my crafty friends Cheiron and Caryn have some inspiration for you too. We have been creating at least one-holiday card a month so we would have a few to send out this year.
If you do end up making any please leave a comment below with a link, or tag me on Instagram so I can see! We are also going to use the hashtag #getcrackingonchristmas
We can do this! Get cracking!
Alcohol Lift Ink
The next Creative Journey Art Retreat is right around the corner! This is a fun event I host 2x a year on Cape Cod. For the upcoming event, we are going to create 12 different holiday cards a day for 2 days. Fun! Fun! Fun!
A little sneak at 2 of the cards they will be creating are these using the new Tim Holtz Alcohol Lift Ink! They don’t take long to do, so perfect if you wanted to create a stack of them to send to friends and family!
When you have a really detailed stamp, using the Alcohol Lift Ink is the perfect way to make a quick and easy card, where you don’t need to do a lot of coloring.
I couldn’t wait to try this out with Tim Holtz’s Yuletide 2018 Stamp Set
I used 4 different Alcohol Inks on this one: Wild Plum, Crimson, Cranberry and Ginger.
Steps:
1. Drop alcohol ink onto Yupo paper. Let the ink spread and move around filling in the paper with color.
2. Ink up your stamp with the Alcohol Lift Ink Pad, and stamp onto the Yupo paper.
3. Your stamp will pull off the color, stamp it onto cardstock. Voila! You have a multi-colored image!
Tip: You can also buff the Yupo paper, to reveal the ghost of the stamped image, and use that to create a card too!
I then inked up the music note background stamp from Tim Holtz’s Music and Advert stamp set. I only inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamped over top the Santa.
I inked the edges with a Mini Ink Blending tool and Old Paper Distress Ink.
I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz’s 2018 Festive Overlay stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black Ink- to get a nice crisp, bold sentiment.
Lastly, I used a Lawn Fawn glue tube and added some Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the trim on Santa’s coat and hat.
This second card was the same process, this time I used Lettuce, Meadow, and Bottle Alcohol Inks. Also for the background stamp, I used Old Paper Distress Ink to stamp it, and chose not to ink the edges this time.
Ok, time for you to go visit Cheiron, and Caryn to see what they created THEN your turn to make a holiday card! I can’t wait to see what you make 🙂

Wonderful cards!
Cannot wait! Been dying to play with these!!!
Wondered if the ink was wet when you did the “lift”? I love your card and it speaks to me as Victorian which I love. Thanks for sharing that with us!
The second one is my favorite of all the lift-offs I’ve seen since it came out — but both are lovely.
