Have you been able to view any of the awesome Facebook LIVE’s that artist have been sharing during this time at home? Besides, the ones I have shared here are some others I have noticed or watched

Dina Wakley is doing a daily demo at 1p ET

Vicki Boutin is sharing tutorials frequently

Tim Holtz has been sharing demos as well

Some previous LIVES I have done, you can catch more details and watch the replay

Also, check out some other tutorials I have here

So much inspiration out there and I hope you are finding some time to be creative. I recently caught Tim Holtz’s demo on Distress Crayons, and admittedly I do not use my Distress Crayons enough. I was intrigued after watching him watercolor with them and then how they resisted Distress Spray Stains. It got my creative brain thinking… and I just had to play!

I pulled out one of the coloring cards from the Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit and alllll of my Distress Crayons.

I scribbled some colors on a laminated sheet of cardstock I have. Using a water brush I painted in the coloring card. These are printed on Distress Watercolor Cardstock, so it’s perfect to use a wet medium with.

Once I had the rainbow and clouds colored in, I then did something VERY scary. I took Hickory Smoke Distress Spray Stain and spritzed it ALL over the coloring card. Then I watched the magic happen.

Since Distress Crayons are a ….. crayon, they have a wax to them that resists the Distress Spray Stain which is translucent. I love how the ink settled and appears different throughout the whole image.

I think how it turned out is perfect for what we are all going through now. The colors shining through the gray….

I added a touch of glossy accents to the little hearts and I call this done!
