Alright, now to the fun, sparkly card I have to share with you
Cheers 2021, Lawn Fawnatics
I think we are all ready to start a new year, the hope of some normalcy back in our lives. I wanted to make a sparkly, cheery card to share- with hopes that it gets us all excited about 2021.
I started by ink blending the background with Distress Oxides:
- Picked Raspberry
- Wilted Violet
- Chipped Sapphire
I then die cut that panel out of the Outside In Stitched Rectangle. Then, using Let’s Bokeh, I stamped the background with Yeti, white pigment, ink. Concentrating on really overlapping the circles, stamping off the sides, and filling the outer edges.
Next, I die cut “CHEERS 2021” out of Oliver’s ABC’s. I then ink blended the letters with regular Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and a blender brush.
Note: When I want a more transparent blend, I use Distress Inks. When I want a more opaque blend, I use Distress Oxides. I also use an ink blending tool with Distress Oxides, I think you get a smoother blend this way. With Distress Inks I use either an ink blending tool or blending brushes, depends on what I am working on. Since I wanted a light application of the ink towards the top of the letters and numbers I used blending brushes.
This is when I added some sparkle. I was inspired by what it looks like when you do an ombre glitter on your nails believe it or not!
I started by using a Quickie glue pen and added glue to the base of the letters, flicking it towards the top of the letters, and dipping it into Prisma Glitter. Then on the bottoms of the “CHEERS” letters, I used a Lawn Fawn glue tube and sprinkled Chunky glitter.

I then die cut a fancy folded banner and stamped “Happy New Year” in Lawn Fawn Blue Jay ink. The card was mounted on Blue Jay Lawn Fawn cardstock too. Lastly, I sprinkled some stars I cut from Pixie Dust Sparkle Cardstock, and sequins here and there.
