Tim Holtz/ Stampers Anonymous, By The Light Of The Moon

Tim Holtz/ Stampers Anonymous, By The Light Of The Moon

For this card, I used the moon and bats from the new Scarecrow stamp set. If you missed the other card I shared with this set, you can check it out here.

But first, let’s talk about the background! I started by stamping the newsprint stamp from the Newsprint and Type stamp set with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide onto Distress Kraft Heavystock.

With the Distress Sprayer, I added some droplets of water, and heat set it with the Ranger Heat Tool. Next, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Next, I spread some Distress Crackle Transparant Paste through the new Markings Stencil

Once the paste dried and crackled, I then sprayed Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray, dried that with the Ranger Heat Tool, and then sprayed Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain, let that seep into the cracks too, and dried it with the Ranger Heat Tool. I splattered some of the new Harvest Moon Distress Mica Spray onto the background.

I then stamped the moon with Seedless Preserves and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide, onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock with the Misti, keeping the stamp in place. I watercolored the moon, just by coloring over the stamped lines with a wet paintbrush. Since I used Distress Oxide ink, with the pigment properties, the ink stays wet longer, and because it is Distress, it reacts to water as well.

I then dried the moon and stamped the moon again with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Using the Distress Sprayer, I added some water splatters and then dried it with the Ranger Heat Tool. I stamped the moon and background with the bats using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink.

I fussy cut out the moon, and layered it onto the card with black foam squares. For the sentiment, I white embossed it with  Yeti Lawn Fawn pigment ink, and Alabaster White Brutus Monroe White Embossing Powder onto Ground Coffee Lawn Fawn cardstock.

Note: whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool.

I cut the sentiment into word strips and added them to the card with black foam strips. I then double-matted the sentiment with Distress Kraft Heavystock and Ground Coffee Lawn Fawn cardstock.
