I can not even express how wicked excited I am to be posting this! I have wanted to blow up shurkus.com for awhile now and finally decided to jump in and DO IT! In March this blog will celebrate it’s 10 year anniversary. TEN YEARS. I figured it was time to take it to the next level and really make shurkus.com more a website with a blog instead of just a blog. When I graduated college in 2001 as a gift to myself I purchased shurkus.com. It was the cool thing to do, buy a domain. Man do I wish I knew how valuable domains are now- I would be rich!
Main reasons for blowing up the site:
I wanted to have better shopping cart capabilities. I realized I needed this when I started my Loft Art Retreats.
I wanted to rebrand the look of shurkus.com with a focus on “creative chick” and making it more my style.
I wanted to be able to organize content better for you, so you can find projects that inspire you and tutorials that make you want to create stuff, because that’s what it’s really all about right?
Not only am I launching the new site I am also wicked excited to be launching online classes! I love teaching. I really do. It inspires me. I get so excited when someone shows me something they created using techniques or ideas I taught them in a class. I have been actively teaching classes around New England for almost 15 years now, even traveling to Maryland, Ohio, Utah and Newfoundland! Unfortunately, as more independent stores close I have less places to teach. I also hear all the time how people would love to take my class but they live too far, or it’s not on a day/time that they can. So why not take the classes in your crafty space when it’s convenient for you!?
Taking into consideration what I know people like about my classes, I think I have come up with a solution. For my classes- people enjoy attending the class and having most supplies provided for them and then going home with completed cards or a project right? You don’t want to have to come up with the designs or figure out the “how” – to you just want to play!
That is definitely what this first class will be all about! Sign up for my Valentine & Friendship Card Class before January 29th and you will get a class kit that was built specifically for this class shipped right to you! Heidi, the owner of Simon Says Stamp has been AWESOME to work with and make this possible! Kits will ship on/around February 3rd straight from Simon Says Stamp to you! You will then be able to watch the 6 tutorial videos I have created walking you through the creation of all 5 cards! How great is that?
Afraid you aren’t techie enough to do an online class? I promise if you can click play on a video you will be able to navigate to the information you need to “attend” this class. And I’ll be here to help! Any questions just drop me an email!

I’m looking forward to a bunch of new things to share with you in the coming months – classes, products, blog series etc. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes for a long time, to see it all finally come to together is so very cool!
