It’s crazy to think that 7 years ago I went to the MSPCA in Centerville (on the cape) to see if they had any little boy kitties that didn’t look like Watcher. When I walked in and saw the cutest black and white kitty, found out he was a boy and heard his rumble of a purr in my ear that was all I needed.
I may not share AS many stories about him on the blog anymore (remember TGIHarley posts?) but he certainly inspires a lot of really cute cards!
Some fun Mister Harley Kitten Shurkus facts for you:
- He is potty trained on the toilet.
- His favorite place ever is the bathroom. He runs in there anytime we are in there.
- He likes to pull the shower curtain back and peek in on me while I’m showering
- At night when the lights are out he goes “hunting” making a deep low growling noise, and then we see him come around the corner with his “kill” in his mouth (a fleece toy cate made for him)
- you can follow him on instagram
- He lets out a deep sigh when he settles into sleep (he has a tough life you know 😉 )
- He won’t drink out of a water bowl- only the bathroom sink
- He bird watches through the curtain so they can’t see
- He gets more happy mail then me, and has more “fans” then I do 🙂
- He loves to headbutt you, but don’t go to reach over his head to pet him you may get a nip
- He’s fresh. He has no problem letting you know (with teeth and claws) to leave him alone.
- He likes to snuggle in the morning, he throws his body against mine and purrs loudly.
- He loves me more then Chris 😉
He is still going through a bit of health stuff- I hope we are on the right path to figuring it out. He is certainly my baby and I feel so lucky that I walked into the MSPCA that day and opened my heart to a new fur baby even though I was still missing Watcher.
For a whole lot of cuteness check out his hashtag on instagram 🙂
Such a lovely post. Mr Harley is super cute and having furbabies myself I can relate to the need to go an entirely different direction when you lose a previously beloved kitty. Hubby and I have the 2 monsters now (Archie is now a monster, he never was, but as he morphs into old age, he is reverting to kittendom = monster) and we adore them, but MeJoanie will always be missed. What a sweetie!
Know what? I like you! Just the fact that you adopted a cat instead of buying one, makes me smile. I also like the fact that you write a post like this, and post a photo like that…
I am happily owned by two rescues and they are the best thing I ever did (as in: being able to transform them from terrified little skeleton and just plain uninterested, into brave, loving characters that make me laugh, and my heart melt, on a daily basis… well – I just kind of have a thing for the little guy.
Glad you do too!
Bella and Anton says “Hello and purr to you, Mr Harley!”
I remember the day, is it really 7 years how time flies. congrats to Mr H such a handsome kitty.
Jenn,
Your post is such an amazing tribute to Mister Harley — and Watcher and Mac. The tears are still falling, but these are happy tears as my heart is happy and my faith in humanity is restored when I read stories such as yours. There’s so much cruelty in the world and I pray constantly for the welfare and love for animals I’ve never even met. I cry myself to sleep sometimes wishing I could do more — I try to do as much as I can, but get discouraged often. I have two indoor boys (Joey and Jack) and my five feral kitties (Miss Kitty-the mama, and her four babies Squints, Wendy, Bailey and Foxy Cleopatra). I trapped them one by one, had them all spayed/neutered and now I continue to care for them, and I love them just as much as my boys. Thank you for sharing your heart for animals with us — it truly warms my heart to know there is someone like you advocating for those sweet, innocent creatures. I wish I knew you personally, but I’m honored to just know of you.
Lots of love to you, Mister Harley and Chris.
Happy Gotcha Day, Mr. Harley! Lucky Jenn!
What a wonderful post! I hope you are able to determine all that ails him and that he is 100% recovered soon. He sounds like quite the character and a love. TFS Hugs, Kristina
Happy day to Mister Harley. How did you ever potty train him? He’s such a handsome guy!
He’s a handsome boy for sure!! 😀
