Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Tie It Up

08/5/2015

Time for a NEW Simon Says Stamp Wednesday ChallengeI am back with a Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge card! Thank you for joining us for the Anything Goes challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too. This week the challenge is Tie It Up! You can use ribbon, twine or anything you can think of to add a knot or bow and remember you can enter up to 5 times! 🙂

We are showcasing Paper Smooches Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used. As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store.

For this challenge I decided to play with Paper Smooches Group Hugs Clear Stamp Set. I just love all the sentiments in this set. Since it was hard to pick just one, I made a set of 3 cards 🙂

Group Hugs, Paper Smooches

SHOCKER! I played with watercoloring 🙂 I started by cutting out 3 Lawn Fawn stitched squares out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I then white embossed the sentiments and hearts on each panel.

Tie It Up Featuring Paper Smooches | shurkus.comThen the fun part 🙂 I wanted to play with some of the newer Distress Colors so I picked out Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral. I smooched the ink (one at a time) on my Craft Sheet, spritzed the color with water to make it a pool of color and then pressed the Stitched Square into the color. I then heat set it, and follow the steps again to add layers.

The white embossing will repel the ink and create a resist.

Once all three panels were watercolored I cut out 4.25×4.25 squares out of gold glitter paper. I wrapped some ribbon around the stitched square panels and tied it into a knot. Those that take my classes know we rarely make bows- too much work LOL!

I then just put all the pieces together and before I knew it I had 3 encouragement cards! 🙂

Also if you are on instagram tag your photo with #ssswchallenge 🙂

There will be ONE lucky winner that will be chosen at random, it could be you!

Those are ABBBBBSOLUTELY beautiful! Love how “simple” they are, yet so eyecatching and beautiful! It’s a tricky thing, to make CAS-cards pop like this, but you nailed it! 😀
