Two Ways with One Die – Blog Hop [GIVEAWAY closed]

06/22/2018

Hi everyone! I am super excited to be part of a blog hop to celebrate Simon Says Stamps new Good Vibes Release! I recently created these ink smooshed backgrounds with layers of Distress Ink. I spent a long time on them, but they weren’t going to work for the particular project I was working on. I loved how they turned out, so I set them aside for another day. Well, they ended up working perfectly for some of the cards I am sharing today!

Simon Says Stamp, Miss You

Using the new Miss You Block wafer die from Simon Says Stamp, I cut out several of them from black cardstock. I kept the negative and positives. I used a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube to adhere them into stacked sentiments, layering 4 per one.

Once the sentiments were on the card, I brushed on some Nuvo Shimmer Pen, and then topped it with some glossy accents. This really makes it look like an embellishment, and not just paper! A few sequins here are there for a little more sparkle.

I knew I wanted to use the leftover letters as well so for those I decided to do some ink blending. I LOVE ink blending with Distress Oxide inks, it makes it so easy. I had fun playing with different blends- diagonal, vertical, horizontal. I also added some water droplets to the backgrounds. I tell ya, it never gets old watching water react with Distress Inks!

Stacking the cardstock for these sentiments was a little bit more daunting, but totally worth it, I love how they turned out and the dimension it gives to the cards! As with the previous cards, I brushed on some Nuvo Shimmer Pen, and then topped it with some glossy accents.

Jenn, I LOVE your ink smooshing & blended backgrounds!! They are ALWAYS gorgeous & I’m sure nice to have on hand for further projects. 😉 What is you’re go-to paper + tool for ink blending? Mine always look BLAH! IDK if I’m being too heavy handed b/c I do have heavy spots that don’t blend out & I get to a point where the paper won’t take anymore ink? I use a heavy weight cardstock along with the Ranger blending tool. I have tried one of my older kabuki brushes & it works beautifully yet doesn’t allow me to get a really deep saturated color.
Have fun & safe travels while vacationing at the beach!! ❤❤ Your landlocked mermaid sister is jealous! Lol 😜😘
