Trick or Treat, Colorado Craft Company

I am so excited to share with you the new release from Colorado Craft Company! New illustrations from Anita Jeram, and they are so fun to create with! Ok- let’s get to the good stuff!

I created this card set using the new Wizard Treat and Trick or Treating Cats stamp sets. I stamped the images with Lawn Fawn Jet Black onto some Distress White Heavystock and colored them in with Copic markers.

I used the Copic markers above to color the images. With the swatches above you can easily substitute for similar colors or even a different coloring medium. If you are interested in learning more about Copic coloring, or alcohol marker coloring, be sure to check out my Copic 101 post here. I then masked the images with masking paper, and ink blended with Distress Inks in the following colors:

• Spun Sugar
• Saltwater Taffy
• Wild Honey
• Vintage Photo

I recently shared a quick video on Instagram with some ink-blending tips.

1. Supplies matter! I love using Distress White Heavystock, large blender brushes when doing a background, The Ink Stands to hold my ink pad in place, a non-porous surface (glass is best)
2. Start blending on your surface and bring the brush to your paper. Have a light hand, build up the color.
3. In-between colors I massage my blender brush with a flour sack cloth. I have one brush per color family. Also, in-between colors I mist some isopropyl alcohol on my surface and wipe with the cloth so my colors don’t mix.
4. When blending between a seam- go back a color and lightly blend over the two
5. Extra tip 💡: hold your background with a piece of scrap paper or plastic so you don’t leave marks behind from your fingers.
6. Let the ink rest and absorb into the paper – your background will look amazing!

I added some black glaze pen to the bats, and Distress Rock Candy to the the sentiment and details on each of the costumes.
