Toil & Trouble, Tim Holtz/Sizzix

Time for a little Hocus Pocus with this spooky card! I used the new Toil & Trouble die set from Tim Holtz & Sizzix.

I started by creating an inky background with the Hocus Pocus Distress Mica Stains. I also created the moon with a diecut circle and Flickering Candle Distress Mica Stains. Both of these were done on Distress White Heavystock.

These sprays were limited edition, and they might be tricky to find. As an alternative, you could use Distress Spray Stains in Wilted Violet, or Villainous Potion and Fossilized Amber or Mustard Seed. Once you spray them, and heat set, then you could spray shimmer on top. I like to use Liquid Stardust from Lawn Fawn. I put a few drops into a mister with water, as it is very concentrated.

I die cut the witch from some sparkle cardstock. I cut the broomstick out of Sunflower and Chocolate Bar Lawn Fawn cardstock. I inked the edges of the broom with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I die cut the bats out of black cardstock and using a Quickie Glue pen added Distress Nightfall glitter to them. This was part of the limited edition Distress Sparkle set, but I see it is still available at Simon Says Stamp at the time I am writing this blog post.

I used one of the sentiments from Scared Silly and embossed it in white on black cardstock.

I then cut out the background from Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangles, the largest one, and matted that on black cardstock.
