Spread Your Wings, Lawn Fawn

Sometimes you just can’t stop when you’re having fun, and that’s exactly what happened when I sat down to color butterflies for my Flutter & Fabulous class! I had so many left over that I just kept going, and this card was born.
The Background
I started with a simple ink-blended background using Lawn Fawn’s Merman, Peacock, Fresh Lavender and Grape Jelly inks, blending them together for that gorgeous teal-to-purple gradient you see here. I then die-cut it with the largest Outside In Stitched Rectangle die to add that pretty stitched border detail.
The Butterflies
All five butterflies are from the I Like Big Butterflies stamp set, and each one got its own unique coloring treatment with my markers. I share a swatch list of markers used below. To make those wings really sparkle, I used a Quickie Glue Pen and Prisma Glitter, because glittered butterfly wings are basically non-negotiable. 😄 I arranged them in a simple grid layout across the card front, which gives it such a fun, graphic feel.
The Sentiment
For the sentiment, I turned to the Henry’s Build-a-Sentiment: Butterflies set and white embossed the words onto black cardstock. Then I cut it apart into individual “word fetti” strips and staggered them down the lower right corner of the card, I love how bold and graphic it looks against all those soft, colorful butterflies!
