Simon Says Stamp is hosting their annual Summer Vacation Kid’s Challenge where they host a special challenge dedicated to their young designers.
Now, before you stop in your tracks and ask yourself “Is Jenn posing as a kid?” or “I didn’t think Jenn had a kid” No Worries! I asked one of Chris’s daughter’s, Cate if she would like to create something. She was super excited for the chance to be featured!
Cate is 12 years old and loves creating with fabric and recently started needle felting. I am SO not creative when it comes to those mediums, but I am happy to share some creativity with paper with her when she visits. She and I have done a few crafty things – and she is always showing just how creative she is. For example she created this yummy cupcake tower with some Hero Art stamps! She did it all on her own, no eclipse masking tape or anything, and she made her own gradient background with copics – clever right!?
She wanted to make a summer card for the challenge, so last weekend I showed her where my summer stamps were, set her up with an acrylic block some ink, adhesive and scissors and stepped back and let her create all on her own. No guidance from me. I just LOVE the adorable card she came up with using Lawn Fawn’s Life is Good and Paper Smooches Slang Gang set!
Be sure to head over the the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog to see the other creations from our young crafters. If you have any young artists in your life ages 2-16 years old- have them enter the challenge. Simon Says is giving away THREE grab bags! You have until August 31st 7pm EST to join in and you can enter as many times as you like.

Wow Cate, you are so talented! Your cupcake tower looks amazing and so yummy! I love the fun beach scene you created too – great mix of images and your colouring is brilliant! Great job!
Such an awesome card! I just had to pop in and tell you and thank you for sharing it with us!!
😀
Wicked awesome Cate! Your card is fabulous – I love the detail in the sand, it looks so real. I could seriously take a nap in that hammock. Such a fun card! Your cupcake tower is nothing short of awesomesauce. It has great composition and you’ve chosen the perfect colors. I especially like how you didn’t color every blue cupcake the same and you tried to show shadowing. I hope you will have opportunities to take art classes in the future – you’ve got some serious natural talent! I can’t wait to see more of your work!
Wow, Cate! I love the fun scene you created! Fabulous card!
