Instagram Sneak Peek | shurkus.com

I was in a bit of an artsy fartsy mood after the Loft Art Retreat this past weekend. So I decided to get a bit painty with my card this week! I shared this sneak peek over on instagram because I was in love with just how GOLD Dina Wakley’s new Gilt paint truly was. More about that in a bit, first I want to share with you the process of how I created this background.

Prima Flowers EN FRANCAIS 8 x 10 Alphabet Sheet

I started with some Prima Flowers EN FRANCAIS 8 x 10 Alphabet Stickers and a sheet of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I started just laying them out randomly, not caring what letters I was using, but kept them in a cluster in the lower left hand side of the card.

Once I had them all stuck down I then painted a coat of gesso over them. I didn’t want it to be too thick so I could still see the letters, but I wanted to cover the red color.

I then started to paint some Dina Wakley Turquoise Heavy Body Paint. I didn’t pay much attention to how much I covered up the gesso, I wanted to to stay a bit rough. Once I as happy with that, with a dry brush I started to brush on Dina Wakley’s Gilt paint. OH MY GOSH! This is seriously the goldest gold paint I have ever played with. It is beautiful! I then watered down a little bit of Dina’s Blackberry Violet paint and added some splatters to my background.

I then took one of the Prima Flowers and covered it in gesso. I then painted it with a bit of Dina Wakley’s Blackberry Violet and then brushed on some Gilt. I adhered this to the card with some Ranger Multi Matte Medium. I painted in 2 lines of Blackberry Violet and then colored a phrase from Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers with some Turquoise and adhered them with some Multi Matte Medium. I envision this card being a birthday card 🙂

This and watching a bazillion Dina videos pushed me right over the edge. All her yummy colors, soon to be mine so I can play at home. CT doesn’t look like a happening thing for me, 🙁
