Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Add a Little Texture

02/18/2015

Time for a NEW Simon Says Stamp Wednesday ChallengeI am back with a Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge card! Thank you for joining us for the All Creatures Great & Small and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is Add a Little Texture

We are showcasing Simon Says Stamp this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

There are SO many ways you can add texture to a card. Embossing Folders, glitter, heat embossing, layers, ribbon, etc. My creative brain went right to Ranger Texture Paste.

Texture Paste, RangerFlower Pattern Stencil, Simon Says Stamp
I am still in love with this card I created back in July, and it heavily inspired this card.
I started this card, but spreading some Ranger Texture Paste through the Simon Says Stamp Flower Pattern Stencil on Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I just did it here and there, focusing on the left hand side of the card. While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled ultrafine crystal glitter over it and set it aside to dry.
You Are Pawsome, Simon Says Stamp
While I was waiting for that to dry, I watercolored the dog from You Are Pawsome stamp set with distress inks. This was after 6…. SIX failed attempts at copic coloring him. I guess I was just in the mood to watercolor more 😉
Wishing, Simon Says Stamp Sending and Wishing, Simon Says Stamp
I die cut the word “wishing” from the wafer thin die, the detail is awesome! and then I stamped ” you happy birthday” from the Sending and Wishing stamp set, and word fetti’d it (just roughly cut it into a rectangle)

Distress Spray Stain, Picked RaspberryDistress Spray Stain, Spun Sugar

Once the texture paste was dry on my background I used Distress Spray Stains in Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar and watercolored a pool of color on the background. I used water to move the color around and heat set in between layers. It was so fun to move the color around and see the texture paste really POP! To finish off the background I splattered a bit of Picked Raspberry Distress Spray Stain.

To finish the card, I assembled the pieces where I wanted them. I used glossy accents to be sure it all stuck onto the texture paste and glitter ok.

LOVE the effect you got with the embossed background – I’d never have thought that the glitter would stick after applying the watercolors! Your card sure did bring smiles this morning, Jenn!
