Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a fun, wintery holiday scene: a vintage car hauling a freshly cut tree home through the falling snow. I got to play with a few of the new Distress goodies on this one, including the new Distress Spritz and the pearlescent Texture Paste, so let’s dive in!
Season’s Greetings: A Vintage Car Bringing Home the Tree

No-Line Coloring with Jellyfish Ink
I started by stamping the car from the Tim Holtz Wonderment stamp set with Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink. If you haven’t tried this ink yet, it’s a must for coloring. It’s alcohol marker friendly and watercolor friendly, and it gives you that lovely no-line coloring look.
Jellyfish is a very soft gray, so as you build up color with your medium, the color overpowers the stamped line and it practically disappears. I colored the car with Copic Markers. I’m sharing swatches of the colors I used below.

Adding Detail and Die Cutting
Next, I stamped just the top part of the car again with Pine Needles Distress Oxide Ink. I used the coordinating dies from Simon Says Stamp to cut out the car, and I also cut out the tree separately. There are two different dies that make this added detail so nice!
I stamped the sentiment in the same Pine Needles Distress Oxide and cut it out with its coordinating die. Distress Oxides have some pigment properties, so they’re great for stamping more solid images and sentiments.

A Snowy Night Sky
For the background, I ink blended Distress Ink in Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire onto Distress White Heavystock. I love how those three blend into a deep, wintery night sky.
Then I splattered on a bit of the new Distress Spritz in Picket Fence for falling snow. You can see swatches of all the new Spritz colors below.

Pearlescent Snow and Sparkle
To create the snowy ground under the car, I spread the new pearlescent Distress Texture Paste with a palette knife. With a small paintbrush, I dabbed a little onto the tree wherever there were white snowy spots, so it looks like it’s been dusted with fresh snow.
Once that was dry, I adhered the car to the card with foam squares and popped up the sentiment with foam squares too. As a final touch, I added some Distress Mica for extra shimmer. It’s now available in a limited-edition vintage container, which is so fun!
