Hello everyone! We have a new Lawnscaping Challenge- Stars & Stripes. You can take that theme and create a project however you like, it doesn’t need to be patriotic.
This challenges is sponsored by Lawn Fawn! And that means you should participate because you could win a gift certificate to the Lawn Fawn store- how cool is that!?
When I created my card I was already elbows deep in Twinkling H2O’s for another project, so I thought- why not!? I die cut one of the Lawn Fawn Puffy Stars from their stack-able lawn cuts. I think it is tough to find good stars for diecuts and stamps, so I LOVE this set. I wanted a few smaller starts too so I used the star from Summertime Charm, and the coordinating lawn cut.
You might have seen this sneak peek posted on instagram. I then just started to layer twinkling H2O’s. drying in between layers. I have always found that if you heat set Twinkling H2O’s it really helps bring out the shimmer. As I was layering on the color and heat setting it in between, I also dripped just clean water. Since Twinkling H2O’s are watercolors, they react to water and that is how i got the beautiful water splotches. It really is just playing, and experimenting here. I find it so relaxing to play with paints.
I used Lawn Fawn’s Good Fortune set and stamped the sentiment on Distress Watercolor paper. In stead of using the coordinating die, I hand cut it into a banner shape. I then used Lawn Fawn’s Belinda Borders and Hero Arts Splash Chalk ink (one of my favorite teal inks ever) to stamp the striped in the background. I wanted to play with the Twinkling H2O’s some more, so I splattered some of the Sunflower color on the background and sentiment.
I decided to cut down the card to be 4.25 x 4.25 this gave me the option of hanging the star off the edge, and it would still fit in an envelope. I popped up all the stars and added the sentiment. This was a really fun card to make and super easy! I hope to see some familiar names participating in the challenge- you have until next Wednesday- get your craft on!
