Hey friends! I have some holiday cards to share with you today! I used some of the fabulous coordinating dies for Tim Holtz stamps from Stampers Anonymous.
Even better? These dies are exclusively available at Simon Says Stamp! 🙌
Not only do they save you from all that fussy cutting, but they also unlock a whole new world of creative possibilities, especially when it comes to layering and collage. Let’s dive in!

Holiday Sketchbook, Tim Holtz

To create the backgrounds on these cards, I started by applying Distress Watercolor Pencils onto the textured side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I laid down a soft wash of color, dried it with my Ranger Heat Tool, and then added another wash, building up layers until I achieved a rich, blend. Once the color was where I wanted it, I splattered gold paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette for a festive shimmer.
After everything was completely dry, I die-cut the panels with the largest Outside In Stitched Rectangle from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the images from the Holiday Sketchbook set directly onto the painted backgrounds, and again onto white cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink. The images stamped on white were colored with Copic markers, I’ve listed the exact colors below so you can follow along or adapt them to your medium of choice.
Next, I die-cut the colored images with the coordinating Simon Says Stamp dies and adhered them to the backgrounds with foam squares for dimension. For the sentiments, I gold-embossed them, trimmed them into strips, and added them with foam strips for a clean, finished look.
To bring everything together, I added a touch of Prisma Glitter with a Quickie Glue Pen and tucked a few Distress Snowflakes into the snowy ground using Distress Collage Medium. The extra sparkle and texture make the scenes feel so cozy and festive!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope these cards inspire you to play with layered watercolor washes and a bit of holiday shimmer. If you create something similar, I’d love to see it be sure to tag me or or sharing in my Creative Chick Studio Share Facebook Group! ! Happy crafting! ✨
