Happy Die-Cember, everyone! Simon Says Stamp is releasing a ton of fun products today, and I have a fun card to inspire you!
Holiday Trees, Simon Says Stamp
For this card, I really let the Distress Watercolor Pencils shine. I wanted to create a beautiful gradient of greens, from deep and rich to soft and light, across the die-cut trees. After cutting them from Distress Watercolor Cardstock, I painted each one using Pine Needles, Evergreen Bough, and Cracked Pistachio.
For the background, I watercolored a moody blend of Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves, then added interest by splattering white paint onto the trees and gold paint across the sky. I also watercolored the frame in gold to tie everything together.
The snowflakes were painted with a festive mix of Lumberjack Plaid, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry, a fun twist on classic holiday colors!
To build depth and dimension, I adhered the trees at varying heights, stacking die cuts and using foam squares. I finished the snowflakes with a coat of Distress Rock Candy Clear applied with Distress Collage Medium, and added Distress Rock Candy Chunky along the edges of the trees for that perfect frosty sparkle.
For the sentiment, I customized one of the stickers from the Tim Holtz Christmas Sticker Book by trimming it into the size and shape I needed.
