Card Details:

Even though most of us are still experiencing winter weather, my mind is always wandering the summer days and all things ocean 🙂 I just love all the new mermaid and nautical goodies in the Hero Arts catalog!

Using the new Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts Mermaid Set, I stamped the mermaid and the sea turtle and colored them in with Copic markers. Trying to experiment and play with my markers more and I had a lot of fun coloring and shading in these images. I love how the turtle came out!

For the card background, I inked the Mermaid Waves stencil with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide, to fill most of the right half of the card. I then just ink blended the Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink on the remainder of the left side. I folded the card in half and then the front panel I folded back in half to create a fun little accordion fold.

Mermaid Hello, Hero Arts 2018 Catalog Blog Hop | shurkus.com

On some scraps of Distress Watercolor Cardstock I inked them in various Distress Oxide Inks ( Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint, Abandoned Coral, and Picked Raspberry). I then die-cut out a bunch of seaweed and coral from the Hero Arts Coral Fancy Die Set.

For the sentiment, I die-cut “hello” from the Hero Arts Hello Coordinating Set several times with Lawn Fawn Guava Cardstock. I then layered them together with some multi-matte medium. Then I stamped “thinking of you” on a strip of paper with the Hero Arts Ombre Pool to Navy Ink Pad. I couldn’t find my sentiment banner dies (LOL) so I hand cut my own banner (the horror hehehe).

Once I got everything adhered and layered the way I wanted I finished it off by adding some Prisma Glitter to the mermaid with the Lawn Fawn Glue Tube and adding some dots of Nuvo in Morning Dew and Simply White. I absolutely LOVE this card, and hope you find it inspiring!
