Happy World Cardmaking Day! Are you celebrating? I am in Maine with some of my chosen family for some much needed girl time! Although little do they know they will be helping me make nametags for next weekends Loft Art Retreat 😉 Crafty TIME! 🙂
I wanted to share with you today a card I created for a friend a bit ago. Meaning I ACTUALLY mailed out a handmade card! Funny thing is I am always so busy designing cards for classes and events I am horrible at sending out cards to friends. I try. Every year I say I’ll do better. What are you going to do? right?
For this card I used the same technique that I shared in a photo tutorial on this post. I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Simon Says Stamp/Mama Elephant Summer Garden stamp set in versafine black on Distress watercolor paper. I then rubbed different distress inks over the image. Directly taking the ink pad to the paper.
- Red flower I used Worn Lipstick and Barn Door (rub the lighter color first all over then rub some of the darker color here and there)
- Orange flower I used Wild Honey
- Leaves I used Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint
I cut apart all the elements so they were their separate pieces of distress card stock. Then I heavily spritzed Perfect Pearls Mist in Pearl. Let the mist pool all around the paper. Heat with a heat tool. The water in the mist will help move around the Distress Ink and once cry you have this beautiful shimmer look! I then fussy cut out all the elements with my Fiskars Spring Assist Scissors. I LOVE these scissors! Clustering all the elements in the center of the a Lawn Fawn woodgrain notecard. Some elements are flat on the card and some are popped up with 3M foam tape.
I stamped the sentiment “hello beautiful” in Versafine Vintage Sepia. Versafine is my go to ink pad for all my sentiments. I love the calligraphy of the sentiments in this set. They are so pretty. I cut the sentiment into a banner and popped up off the card. I rounded the corners of the card with a We R Memory Keepers corner chomper. I then embellished the card with little dots of Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

every third Sunday I work with an elderly woman on personal things whether it be cleaning, shopping or redecorating. This Sunday is my day with her and I must say…It started as a job but is now such a great friendship that I look forward to going and spending time with my 92 year old friend that most times I clean her place and then we sit and chat or go shopping or out to lunch, it’s amazing to spend time with people who have live a great life. She is a doll collector and antique collector oh and by the way she is a Harvard Graduate, a doctor and a wonderful woman, I am so grateful to have her in my life!
This is how I am crafty this weekend…oh and I am expecting a big shot in the mail soon…so excited

I’m in the thinking process for some swaps I will be participating in on Oct. 25. I’ve gathered patterned paper and stamps to go with it and thinking about how to put them together for a fun design. Scoping out Pinterest and blogs for ideas. I enjoy your blog!
Thank you for visiting Arlene! I hope you found lots of inspiration and have some ideas for your swap cards 🙂

I try to do something creative with the twins every weekend but today, in honor of card making day I am sitting down at my craft desk to watercolor & make what ever my little heart desires. My only company will be a glass of red wine & Allen Stone Pandora station! 🙂

I love that technique, Jenn. It’s so pretty! I’m planning to drag all of the markers in the house onto the kitchen table so the kids can help me color some adorable Lawn Fawn images for WCMD. I also need to get my daughter’s Halloween costume cut and pinned so I can be ready for a big sewing day.
