Happy Summer, Lawn Fawnatics

Hi, everyone! I am back again with another card for the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge. If you love Lawn Fawn you should definitely follow us over on that site- we have a fabulous team that offers inspiration and chances to win gift certificates to Lawn Fawn!

Not sure if you knew, but I design all the badges for these challenges. Whenever we have an inspiration photo for the challenge, I love to try and recreate the challenge image with Lawn Fawn stamps, and this one was wicked fun!

Happy Summer, Lawn Fawnatics

For this card, I started with the background. I wanted it to look like the wooden boards in the inspiration photo. I started by ink blending Lawn Fawn Merman ink all over a white card panel. I then cut the panel into 5 pieces. Next, I took one of the Stitched Border dies, and edged each of the “boards”. I then inked one of the long edges with Lawn Fawn Peacock Ink to darken that edge.

Then I started creating the sweet summer treats on the card. Starting with the ice cream cone I die cut the ice cream from I scream you scream die set. I cut the top of the ice cream out of Ballet Slippers’ cardstock and inked the edges with Bubblegum ink. I die cut the cone out of Paperbag cardstock and inked the edges with Walnut ink.

Next, I created the popsicle. I die cut the top out of Distress Watercolor cardstock and the stick out of kraft cardstock. I watercolored the popsicle with Sunflower, Bubble Gum, and Merman Lawn Fawn ink. I then inked the edges of the popsicle with the coordinating colors as I watercolored. I inked the edge of the popsicle stick with Doe Lawn Fawn ink.

Lastly, I created the watermelon using the new Stitched Rainbow. I used Cilantro, Guava, and Black Licorice cardstock.

Note the cheeks from the stitched rainbow is what I used for the watermelon seeds!

For the sentiment, I cut “happy” from Big Scripty Words.

You can see an easy way to die cut and stamp these words to get perfect placement every time here.

For the word “summer”, I stamped letters from Quinn’s abc’s with Sunflower Lawn Fawn ink, cut out rough squares, and inked an ombre with the same Sunflower ink pad.

For finishing touches, I used Glossy Accents on the popsicle. I then used a Lawn Fawn glue tube and Rock Candy Distress Glitter on the edge of the ice cream and popsicle. I used a quickie glue pen and Prisma glitter on the “summer” letters and the rind of the watermelon. I then added glossy accents over the rind of the watermelon. Lastly, I used a black glaze pen on the watermelon seeds.

I just LOVE how this card came out… I might not be able to share it with anyone just yet! You have this weekend to enter our challenge- hope you get a chance to be creative!
