I am so excited to share with you the new release from Colorado Craft Company! New illustrations from Anita Jeram, and they are so fun to create with! Ok- let’s get to the good stuff!

I created this card set using the new Halloween Background stamp and Happy Haunting for the sentiment. I embossed the background image twice on Distress White Heavystock and twice on Distress Watercolor Cardstock. To emboss a black image I use Versafine Onyx Black ink, and stamp it several times using a Misti, then use clear ultrafine embossing powder. I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. For the sentiment, I white embossed it onto Lawn Fawn Storm Cloud cardstock. I stamp the sentiment several times over using a Misti and Yeti white pigment ink, then sprinkle the Alabaster White embossing powder from Brutus Monroe.

For the first ard on Distress White Heavystock, I used the Copic markers below to color the images. With the swatches below you can easily substitute for similar colors or even a different coloring medium. For the second background on Distress White Heavystock, I ink blended with the following Distress Inks:

• Spun Sugar
• Saltwater Taffy
• Kitsch Flamingo
• Mustard Seed
• Dried Marigold
• Spiced Marmalade

I recently shared a quick video on Instagram with some ink-blending tips.

1. Supplies matter! I love using Distress White Heavystock, large blender brushes when doing a background, The Ink Stands to hold my ink pad in place, a non-porous surface (glass is best)
2. Start blending on your surface and bring the brush to your paper. Have a light hand, build up the color.
3. In-between colors I massage my blender brush with a flour sack cloth. I have one brush per color family. Also, in-between colors I mist some isopropyl alcohol on my surface and wipe with the cloth so my colors don’t mix.
4. When blending between a seam- go back a color and lightly blend over the two
5. Extra tip 💡: hold your background with a piece of scrap paper or plastic so you don’t leave marks behind from your fingers.
6. Let the ink rest and absorb into the paper – your background will look amazing!

For the first card with Distress Watercolor Cardstock, I watercolored the images with Distress Ink re-inkers. I used the following colors:

• Spun Sugar
• Saltwater Taffy
• Kitsch Flamingo
• Worn Lipstick
• Mustard Seed
• Wild Honey
• Dried Marigold
• Spiced Marmalade

On the second background with Distress Watercolor Cardstock, I did some ink smooshing with Distress Oxides in the following colors:

• Spun Sugar
• Saltwater Taffy
• Kitsch Flamingo
• Mustard Seed
• Dried Marigold

I diecut all the backgrounds with the largest stitched rectangle from Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables. I matted them onto Lawn Fawn Storm Cloud Cardstock. I added the sentiments with foam squares. I then added some Trinity Stamps Brilliant Citrine embellishments using their pickup tool and tray for easy placement.
