Halloween Characters, Tim Holtz

Hello, friends! Today’s Halloween card is packed with a fun little cast of characters: a ghost, a glowing jack-o’-lantern, and a goofy Frankenstein’s monster hanging out by a tombstone. 👻🎃🧟

The Background

I started by buffing Distress Micro Glaze through the Grime stencil, then ink smooshed Black Soot Distress Ink over the top. The Micro Glaze resists the ink, leaving behind all those fun grungy spots and splotches. Once it was dry, I used a mini ink blending tool and domed foam to add Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink, which gives the background a warm, eerie glow.

The Monsters

I stamped some of the images from the Scared Silly stamp set onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock and watercolored them with Distress Watercolor Pencils. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies from Simon Says Stamp.

The Sentiment

I white embossed “Happy Halloween” onto black cardstock and die cut it out. The crisp white really pops against the dark background.

Finishing Touches

I added all the images to the card with foam squares for dimension. Then I sprinkled some black sparkle stars cut with Lawn Fawn’s Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag die, along with some iridescent sequins. To finish, I added some Distress Rock Candy Clear and Glossy Accents to the images for a little shimmer and shine.
