We can do this! We can create holiday cards all year, and be a little bit more prepared for the holiday season!
Get Cracking: Watercolored Christmas
For this holiday card, I stamped and gold embossed Hero Arts Christmas Rose cling stamp onto the smooth side of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. I used Versamark and Brutus Monroe Gilded Gold Ultra Fine Embossing Powder.
Note: if you have owned your Versamark Ink Pad for a long time this is your reminder to re-ink it and get it nice and juicy! I did this for this card, and wish I had done it sooner!
I then proceeded to watercolor the background with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I did a combo of scribbling the color directly onto the paper, even layering more than one color and I also did the wet paintbrush to the tip of the crayon to pick up the color technique too. I am going to share all of this during my LIVE!
If you would like to see some more projects I have created with Distress Watercolor Pencils, you can here. I have an online class all about Distress Watercolor Pencils – see more details here.
I die cut this background with the largest stitched rectangle in Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle set.
Next, I die-cut the Hero Arts Christmas Message Fancy Die– 3 times out of white cardstock, and once out of Gold Metallic. I die cut the holly out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock and added color with Distress Watercolor Pencils. I used a glue tube to stack them together to make a dimensional sentiment and added it to the card.
I matted the card onto gold metallic cardstock. I added a bit of sparkle to the berries with a glue tube and Distress Rock Candy Glitter.
This was such a fun card to put together, I find watercoloring SO relaxing!
