Hey everyone… it’s JULY!!! It’s the third Thursday. Do you know what that means?! Beach, sunshine, cookouts, open windows AND CHRISTMAS!
Yep, It’s Christmas in July!! I am trying to help you get started on your holiday cards. Ok, actually the truth is, I haven’t sent any holiday cards out the past couple years, and I wanted to change that THIS year. So, talking with my friends Chari and Cheiron, we decided to challenge one another to make some each month.
In honor of Christmas in July, I have invited a whole bunch more of my crafty friends to inspire you. Some are even offering prizes!
If you are visiting my blog for the first time or have not yet subscribed – be sure to do so! I share lots of handmade projects every week delivering them straight to your inbox! I also occasionally share information about crafty classes and new product releases I love. Subscribe here.
Ok, let’s dive into the FUN!!
Be sure to read to the end, because not only am I sharing a card, but my friend Susan is too AND we both have giveaways!!
Creating this card I had a chance to play with TWO Neat and Tangled sets I hadn’t had a chance to yet. The adorable little bunny from Bunny Slopes and the snowman from Christmas Pagent work so well together.
I also LOVE to use non-traditional colors when creating my holiday cards. I get bored with the same old “red and green” So I played with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink and Distress Oxide to ink smoosh the background, and ink blend the hillsides. I continued with the teal theme in coloring the bunny and snowman with Copic markers.
I added some Prisma Glitter details with a Quickie Glue Pen, and some Doodlebug Sprinkles I found in my stash while organizing my room.
Did you know that the Simon Says Stamp Spring Rain Ink Pad matches Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink PERFECTLY! That is what I used to stamp the sentiment and snowflakes.
Supplies I used are linked throughout the post. Click on the picture and you will be taken to the product. I use affiliate links when available which means if you make a purchase I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support!

Merry Christmas from Susan
There’s nothing better than colorful cardstock in my opinion, so I went all bold and cheery with red and green strips. It’s a super-fast way to make a big impact! With my ink swatch (dude, I HATE that word 😂) I was able to match colors perfectly. The merry comes from the Simon Says Stamp + CZ Design Coolest Yulest set, and the Christmas comes from Avery Elle, but it appears to be retired (sorry!). The Picture Book Deer from Simon Says Stamp adds a festive air to my Christmas in July creation. The little bow on her neck (there are female reindeer, right?) is from MFT’s Blueprints 26 die set. I was pretty stoked how the bottom of the deer nestled into the space created by the sentiment. It’s those little design victories that make me super happy! And my flamingos are waving hello!
Merry Christmas in July from me to you! Now get CRACKIN’ on your Christmas cards—STAT!
Ok, now onto the GIVEAWAYS!
I accidentally purchased doubles of a few things… do you ever do that? OY! Anyways, I want to share with you my doubles! Keep reading for details how to win both prizes
OK, so one of the best things about Christmas is giving gifts. And I’ve got one to offer you—I am giving away a large priority mail box absolutely stuffed with lots of fun goodies including the summer 2018 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. I kind of have an in, there. 😉 Most of it is brand new along with a few gently used items. Whatever you can’t use, PLEASE pay it forward to another crafty soul. That would make me sooooo happy!

Oh my gosh, your card is just adorable!! I make all of my cards for Christmas and make between 50 and 60. I mail them out in mid December and I also make all my tags.
Awesome! Thank you for a chance to win this awesome giveaway!
The first time I made my own Christmas cards was last year. I started around October but didn’t get to finish until 2nd week if December 😫 because it got so busy with work. I think I send out around 30 cards. I will start early again this year so I can send them out on time and not having to rush myself 😣
I make all my Christmas cards, usually between 60 and 70 of them. I always say I’m going to start early but I never do so I usually send them out a week before Christmas. You are inspiring me to start early this year.
I now feel the need for a snowman hoodie! ADORABLE!
Adorable cards! Great stamps sets used, Jenn. And the deer is so fun – I love him.
Oh yes, I send out Christmas cards, maybe 20 mailed and 20 hand delivered. Most
of them are handmade, maybe a few mail aways that aren’t. I usually sent around
Oh my!! I just love this two cards!! I haven’t send them by mail, just give some to my closest friends… but this year that will change I hope!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Early November I get together with my husband and dogs and meet up with a local amateur photographer for some fun family pics. I usually send out around 100-150 cards ordered from a printing company with a few pictures from that year on it.
I am thinking this year I may order a few picture copies of and send them in homemade card to close friends and family.
It would justify buying stamps and dies from all these new releases 😉
I do send handmade cards, usually 40-50, but only to folks that I never talk to otherwise or else the list is too long.
Wow. Love your oxide backgrounds. I am using Gelli backgrounds this year with die cut trees and snowman. So excited to be sending fun Christmas greetings to many!!! Hopefully to be sending beginning of December instead of the usual week prior, ha ha for holiday schedule of too many but for in frivolous activities. Thanks for sharing.
These are such great cards !! And yes I’m sending Christmas cards but I’m not confident enough to handmade them yet. So I buy some and try to add an extra personal touch to them.
Oh my goodness!!! Two fabulously talented ladies with Christmas in July!!! Loved seeing Susan here too!! LOVING the Christmasy cards and of course I send cards! I do make a ton and end up sending them out approximately the Monday after Thanksgiving! And usually 100+ The majority are similar but there are individual ones as well!!! Yes, I love getting them too!
Love all your great art! Would love to he a winner!
Love the colors you used on your holiday card! Yes, I send 20 to 30 handmade Christmas cards usually the week before Christmas. Thanks for the chance at your awesome giveaway!
I always love your cards Jenn! The Cracked Pistachio is a color I would never think to use in a winter/snow card. But then I struggle with thinking outside the box. Anyway I totally love it! I’ve been sending handmade cards for nearly 20 years now. When I look back at the first ones they were pretty sad but I was so proud of them back then. Lol
Thanks for the ideas. I’m making handmade cards for Christmas this year. It’s a first for me to hand make all of our cards. Wish me luck.
This is a fab idea to start early on the Christmas creations. Beautiful colour palette on the snow friends card. The card with the strips of paper is a great way to use up the piles of scraps we accumulate. I’m a fairly new card maker so this will be my first year of making a large quantity of Christmas cards.
I do handmade Christmas cards for my husbands office and a few close friend and family .I do 50 to 75. My husbands cards are hand delivered the rest I send the first week of December.
I do send Christmas cards and they are handmade! I always have the best intentions of making them earlier but they never seem to get into the mail until the week before Christmas!
I have been making cards for a few years now. I enjoy the process of making them even more if I have someone in mind! So I definitely send christmas cards!
I love these cards and the idea of starting making early. I always think I will do it, but end up starting in October or November when it seems easier to feel festive But you’ve convinced me this year!
I post all of mine out around a week before the posting deadline and so I really need many of them made by early December. I like to have time to do some envelope art and use my Lettermate for addressing neatly as well as using seasonal postage stamps. Where I live, the Christmas stamps have their own release date so I always check that and get there on the day to secure a big batch of Christmas stamps. 🙂
Thanks for this awesome chance to win! I love the cards! I do send holiday cards—a mix of picture cards of my children and some handmade. I try to start early, but always end up sending them out later than I intend! Love thinking about holiday creations in July!😉
Awesome cards! Love the sweet snow scene you created…. adorable! Pretty colors and details!
I send several handmade cards, maybe a dozen. I am a last-minute kinda gal, so they usually go out pretty close to the holiday! I aim to send them a bit earlier but somehow every year I am pressed for time!
Love your pistachio tone color card, Jenn! So fun & festive. And, Susan’s card simply adorable with that cute deer. I really hope this will help me get my Christmas cards done early for this year. I don’t send out crazy amount, but still it’s quite a bit. So glad for this challenge!
You ladies sure know how to rock Christmas in July! I make about 70 cards. I always sign up for a crop at my local scrapbook store on the first weekend of December so that I have time dedicated to making them. Mailing them is another story! It all depends on how long it takes me to get them written out! Thanks for the chance!
I am new to card making so this prize would be awesome to win
I sent over 50 hand made holiday cards to family and friends last year. I started making them in October to make sure I’d have it done by early December. And I was still short a few. Trying to start a few this summer. 😳
Your card is so cute despite that glitter…😉. You still have to convince me. I usually send beyween 40-50 cards and also handmake cards for my kids’ piano teachet and that’s an additional 80! I really need to get crackin’!
I love both of these cards! I send out and hand deliver Christmas cards! I make them myself and usually send 12-15 cards! I try to send them so that they arrive either on Christmas Day or the week leading up to it! 😊. Thank you for the chance to win some goodies!
Getting to your comment section is harder than getting a wet bathing suit up over my tush!!!! So many followers. Yes I send homemade cards but only to those that I know will treasure them for a week before throwing them away!! Maybe 20, everyone else gets a store bought card
Hi, Great post and AWESOME giveaway, THANKS !!! I do make Christmas cards, first I do the Caring Hearts Drive with Jennifer McGuire, I usually do about 50 -60, I could do more but i am OCD so i don’t do just plain cards, my cards have LOTS of layers and i do the insides both sides and i also do the back, I try not to because I know I can get more done if i just stick to one layer and just basic, but the OCD takes over, if you know anyone with it, it is NOT the funny disease everyone makes it out to be. also I always picture my grammy or grandpa opening that card. Also i make cards for family/friends, of course homemade and I try to send out 7 to 10 days before Christmas. I just really enjoy making cards it helps me to get my mind busy and off my pain, it is kind of like therapy. Thank you.
I do send cards but not a ton any longer. I send handmade cards mostly to family and close friends. After making 150 one year, I was cured of that!!!
what a fun series and I am excited to see your nontraditional Christmas card. I also like Susan’s strippy card! I do send out Christmas cards to immediate family/friends. They are handmade (about 6) and the other ones tend to be a photo card. I try to mail them out a week after Thanksgiving..if Im on top of things!
I usually do send out some cards. However, the last couple of years they have not been handmade. I should change that.
I love handmade cards, and flipbook . This Christmas I have a 1 year old niece to give a card , she can’t read yet but shaker card makes her happy 😃 also for my family and pen pals to send cards . Handmade is so special to make and receive both ! I love the goodies . I hope to win!
Hi I love your ideas and yes I make and send Christmas cards. A few friends and I get together as often as we can and make cards at every chance we get. Great ideas to start Christmas cards now, less rushing. I usually make about 20-25 cards and have done both all the same card and all different cards just depends on the year or how I like a design. I try to send cards about 10 days before Christmas. thanks for sharing I would love to win and share with my stamping friends
I love sending handmade holiday cards and receiving cards as well. I’m not the greastest and making them but I enjoy making them and sending it out to family and friends. I usually make 10-15 and try to get them out the 1st week of December.
Your holiday cards are a delight!! I have been making my own Christmas cards for over twenty years and I send between 30 – 40 locally and oversea. I used make them all the same design, but in the past couple years I make a head start early and I have various style. Thanks for sharing the inspirations.
Gorgeous cards!! I generally send photo cards at Christmas, but I make really awesome hand made invites for an annual fun Christmas party that we have every year for our friends.
I love sending out Christmas cards! I love receiving Christmas cards! I try to send them out around mid December. I love taking pictures, so Christmas cards are photo cards. I keep all my Christmas photo cards, Christas letters and I scrapbook the photo cards into a Christmas photo card album. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years. I send a few homemade Christmas cards as well.
You two gals are having to much winter fun! i did groan at first when I saw this page, as it was over 100 degrees where I am and I’m certainly not in the holiday spirit. Yes, I make cards to mail (about 25) and tons of tags for Christmas. The tags are not for me – we typically don’t give gifts (just $$$), for for friends and charities. Love to do it. Your cards are so darn cute that you’ve got me seriously thinking of starting early…..thanks for this and all the inspiration!
Both cards are adorable! I absolutely make and mail about 35 cards each year. I also do cards for all the other holidays as well.
Jenn, I ADORE your card, those little critters are just so sweet.
Susan, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that reindeer and your graphic style – fabulous 🙂
I love your fabulous Christmas project!!!
I do send handmade holiday cards, Dec 1st is the day I started working on the list, print mailing labels, and send them as soon as I am done, usually by the end of the first week that month, I do about 60 cards each year!
Hi. Did I miss the giveaway? It says to have the comments posted my June 23 and it’s July. I hope it was a typo. I try to send Christmas cards every year. They are always brand new. I have a priority list. My sister will alway get a card over anyone else. (She loves my cards) hehe. Last year I sent about 25. The year before probably 10. I am one of the biggest procrastinators in the would. Why do today what I can do tomorrow is my moto. I love both your cards. Now I am inspired.
I make about 12-15 cards a year to send for Christmas. I get together with crafty friends (started as 4, but now we’ve doubled) and we design a card and make kits for eachother. Love, love Christmas..and I always say I will start earlier, but I never have….so fingers crossed, this is the year!
Love Christmas in July. I make cards to give as a bundle for friends to give. Mostly tags ❤️
I do make my Christmas cards every year. I make about 40 just because I’d rather have extras instead of not enough. And I try to mail them at the beginning of the month, no later than the second week if I’m really behind. Thanks for the chance to win fun things too!
Love these wonderful cards. I do send handmade cards for Christmas. The amount depends on how late I have waited to get them done:)
I really like both cards. The colour choices are fab. I usually make 30-40 Christmas cards. Last year was the first time I sent out all handmade cards (I’ve only been stamping for 2 years). It was a bit of a mission as I started a bit late and each were different. I’ve already started this year so hopefully they will be all finished early December.
Yes, I send out cards and in recent years send out handmade cards. Last year I started waay to late.
I love the whimsy of both cards, they just make me smile 🙂 Thanks Jenn for the great tip on the Spring Rain Ink Pad matching the Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks/Oxides (I love the Distress line!). I usually send out 30 or so Christmas cards, since I am new to card making this is the first year I will be making my own cards. I am definitely having fun getting supplies and hope to get started making them in the next couple of weeks. I have been getting some great ideas from blogs and I love that y’all always link to the products used. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yes i do make my Christmas cards every year
No I haven’t even thought about them yet, will probably start in October, just kidding… Nov
I only make them for friends and family, so probably about 20, 5 of them are for my greatgrandkids and they have to all be different…. Love the colors on the bunny card 🎄🎨
Both of these cards are adorable! I love making Christmas cards but I don’t always start early enough to mail them out on time! I also order photo cards that I send, special people get both, as long as I finish & mail in time. I send anywhere from 20-40 cards. Or 5. 😂
I love the two cards! They are both cute! Love the traditional Christmas colors, but when I see Jenn make Christmas or holiday cards with other colors it gets me thinking out of the box! I send out about 100 Christmas cards. I used to make my Christmas cards, but since having my two girls I only make a few handmade cards. I need to start early to be able to have a stash ready! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I have been making hand stamped Christmas Cards for the past 10 years. My family and friends would have hurt feelings if they didn’t get one! I make and send out about 45 cards. I start making them in November before Thanksgiving and every year I swear I am going to start earlier, lol.
Thank you for the very cute inspiration!!
Cute holiday cards.
I use to make holiday cards every year but then I started doing craft shows and haven’t had time to do them. Hope to get more organized so that I can.
I do send out handmade Christmas cards. Around 60. I start making them in Nov and mail Dec 15.
We send handmade Christmas cards- about 50. It’s nice because I work on them throughout the year so when Christmas is here we don’t have to stress about it. We’re trying a new thing where we include our year in review this year. We’re not sure how we will rock that but we are excited about it.
I usually make about 175 – 200 Christmas cards. If I get an early start they are all unique. If time gets away from me then I make 4 of a design. If time REALLY gets away from me, I supplement with (dare I say it) purchased cards. I usually mail them out a 1-2 weeks before Christmas.
I do send Christmas cards-about 80 of them. Some years I am good and make them all and some years I resort to store bought ones. I have to get busy because I only have 10 made so far.
I have made my own Christmas cards for several years and I usually make about 24, five or take. My card making game has stepped up over the last couple years, thanks to the purchase of my die cutter.
I do send out Christmas cards, that I make myself. Last year, I think I sent out 50 cards. I had to mail them early though (first week in December) because we were going to be on vacation
I usually make some cards and hand them out in person. I send a few for people I won’t see though. I think I probably do around 10 or so. 🙂
Such gorgeous cards! Jenn, love the cracked pistachio and Susan that pairing of the dear and sentiment was absolutely meant to be! Love them both! I do make cards to send, usually run out of time and have a backup stash of (gasp) store bought cards for the few that I don’t have enough time to finish… I make about 25 cards most are different styles because I am not good at mass producing, and if I am lucky they get in the mail a few days before Christmas (sigh). Thanks for sharing!
OMG the cards are awesome. I usually send around 30 cards to family and friends and they are handmade. I also make as much as I could for card drives. It sure feels real good when those get mailed.
love your cards – the colors are so fresh and inspirational for Christmas – I usually handmake over 40 cards and mail them out in first week of December
I make around 30 handmade cards every christmas. I send them out about 2 weeks before.
I try to sneak in a christmas card all throughout the year, that way I don’t feel as much pressure when Dec. 1st rolls around. Love your cards!!!
I send holiday cards every Christmas. Also do all the birthdays and. Anniversary S. All are hand made. I really enjoy the time making them too. Find it very relaxing believe it or not!
i used to send handmade christmas cards, but it seem the sending of ‘cards’ in the mail with many non-crafters is on the way out.. and those that do get cards, dont see the difference unless they are a crafter too. I agree with you though, I get tired of red and green and like color variance. I do send cards to my crafing buds though; they appreciate them 🙂
Jenn: P.S. I think you mean July dates not June dates 🙂
I start making my cards early November because I am incredibly slow. I make around 20 for family and them I make CAS cards for Caring Hearts campaign. I mail them out by December 10th. I was a letter carrier for over 26 years so I know the importance of mailing early.
I LOVE SENDING CHRISTMAS CARDS!!! I usually send about 80 to 85 cards and they are NOT all handmade. (There are some people that just don’t “get it” so I send them store-bought!!) I aim to make around 50 cards each year…some years I do better than others. But it is something I really enjoy doing!! Merry Christmas!!!!
I just love the cards!! This will be my first year making my cards. I usually send out 20-30 and even though I did store bought I still sent late and I bought the cards the year before after Christmas clarence sales. LOL!!
I been sending handmade Christmas cards for a few years now! I usually give out somewhere between 45 and 50, but there never seem to get out before the third week of December – they end up being New Year’s cards 😀
I love making my Christmas cards, and send about 60. I usually make 5-8 designs to keep things interesting.
Hi. First I would like to thank you both for sharing your beautiful cards and having such an awesome GIVEAWAY for all of us. I like to see how you make your cards.
I make cards at Christmas.
They are handmade by me.
I make between 10 to 15, depending on how many we receive.
I start mailing them as I receive them.
I always make my own cards for every occasion but especially for Christmas. I make about 50 each year and love to send something special to all I have not talked with all year. Your cards and ideas will come in handy. Love the great ideas.
Christmas in July leaves me wishing for the cooler weather. I send out about 50 hand-made holiday cards every winter (too many friends & family are too many different religions to just do “Christmas” cards). I’m even crazy enough to have a theme for my cards: holiday songs. Every year I pick a different song and make a card based on a line or two (ie Deck the Halls, Frosty the Snowman, etc). I don’t think anyone’s caught on yet…
Love the idea of this hop and gettin’ crackin’. Christmas is what I do but I make tags, millions of tags I donate to local groups to sell for Christmas fund raising. But — last year I actually made 10 — didn’t send them to people, sent them to the Caring Hearts or whatever that Jennifer Mcguire was going to pass along to nursing homes. Like there aren’t enough where I live. . . I don’t send or make cards but I plan to put a toe in. Meanwhile thank you for this fabulous blog. And I just got the reindeer and love the way it was used here. The whole hop was terrific. TY!
Really cute cards. I make and send out about 20 cards around mid December. Last year I started in October and made 30 cards to send to someone in a card making group that sends them to people in the military.
My creative side always requires I send handmade holiday cards to friends and family as well as my students during all the holidays. My Christmas card count is about 150 cards. Always looking for creative ways to send best wishes to friends and family.
Lovely cards ladies!
I do send handmade Christmas cards out to list. Since I mail out about 50 each year and also like to have cards and tags for gift giving I like to save a bit of time by making 6 or so of each design at a time. So thankful for the MISTI which is super helpful. 🙂
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS CARDS! As to making Christmas cards! I am a newbee just literally starting out! So I haven’t yet ever made Christmas cards! How many will I send out? Sadly not really any accept maybe to my parents and my Mother-in-law that would be about it! Because unfortunately everyone I use to send cards to quit sending! Now everyone sends Christmas wishes by computer! How sad is that!!! BUT I do plan on making cards for Christmas craft fairs this year! WOOHOO!! Of course being a newbee it probably won’t be OOOODLES just yet! HAHA!!! But I have to start somewhere! ALSO I wanted to say a big thank you in my email you sent information about how you use manicure blocks to erase your marker BOOBOO’S on your cards! That is really good to know! Because I imagine I will be making lots and lots of BOOBOO’s!! HaHa! Sorry for the lengthy post!! LOL!!!!
Both of your cards are SO cute, ladies! I have been sending holiday cards for a while, and try to keep the total to about 25, but this year, I think I will be sending 50! I make them all myself, and send them out all over the world! We love receiving cards in the mail, so we hope others do too!
You gals are rocking these Holiday cards. I send handmade cards every year. The total varies from year to year because each year I make new friends. Some years I have made them all the same and some I have made them all different.
Jenn and Susan – your cards are adorable – love that little skiing bunny on those soft color and the cute little deer on the brights! I usually send about 40-50 cards and most are handmade. Usually mail them out by 10 Dec. as most every year I am spending the holidays away from home.
Jenn and Susan, these cards are beautiful! I love making Christmas cards for family. My husband’s family has the tradition of exchanging Christmas cards with one another on Christmas Eve, and it’s so much fun to share them in person! This year I really want to mail Christmas cards to my crafty friends as well, so I really need to get cracking! 😁
Well you girls are so clever and motivated. I just can’t get into creating Christmas cards when it’s so hot outside! I usually send about 30 handmade Christmas cards (the ones I’ve made throughout the fall) to family and friends in Europe. Family and friends in the US (over 100) get the family photo/letter duo 😉 But yay for y’all – the stash is born.
I mail out or give about 20-25 handmade Christmas cards but I did want to increase that amount this year. Last year I sent them out last minute as I hadn’t started early enough on my Christmas cards. Thank you for the inspiration as I need to start on my Christmas/holiday cards earlier this year!!
I make about 40 cards and send them by the 10th of Dec because I usually don’t start making them until after thanksgiving. I love your cards btw! I love getting inspired!
Love, love both of these cards! The little boy dressed as a snowman is always a fav and I really like Susan’s brightly colored stripes! Fantastic cards girls!
Yes I do! I always s send homemade ones with a picture of the kids in it. I usually make around 60, and I try to mail them out by dec.1st in case I have to make any extra!
I do send out handmade Christmas cards about the first or second week of December. Last year I probably sent over 90. I also make enough to give some to my SIL to send.
I love making and sending cards.
I didn’t send Christmas cards last year. We were remodeling our kitchen. I don’t recommend doing this over the holidays! They were supposed to start in August and actually came in October.Plus I fell off my bike and broke my shoulder. I don’t recommend that either. So Christmas cards just didn’t happen. Maybe if I’d started them in July, I would’ve been fine. I love to send handmade cards and usually send 150.
Of course, I never knew I wanted that set until now! Thanks! And you featured your favorite colors beautifully!
I love making Christmas cards but feel so rushed at Christmas. This is s great motivator. I usually make 75 cards different styles for different people. I usually send them out a week before Christmas. Last year I had gotten all my cards prepped and ready to put together, address and I was going to do festive envelopes as well. Our house got it with the flu and we were all in bed so the cards didn’t get sent!! This year I am going to send them the first week of December
I send around 110 cards, I make a lot, but also recycle non handmade ones too…thanks
I definitely send Christmas cards! I’ve been making them for about 20 years now… Started way back when there was DOTS stamping company. I think that’s what it was called. Anyhoo… My homeschooling friends and I got together and made cards for hours to send out. I now send probably about 25-30. Back then I assembly lined it and made one design. Now pretty much each one is different! LOL
I always send holiday cards, even when I’m not really feeling the spirit of the season, and I often send 50 or more. Since I’ve found card-making, I ONLY send handmade cards and I try to match the card with the person to receive it. Love this idea of a blog hop; lots of great inspiration and the excitement of creating early is contagious.
