Get Cracking: Newton’s Nook Holiday Cards

Hi everyone! Back again with some more holiday inspiration! Have you started your holiday cards yet? Do you need some inspiration? You can look back at all of my Get Cracking posts from the year here

A few of my crafty friends Chari and Caryn have some inspiration for you too. We have been creating at least one-holiday card a month so we would have a few to send out this year.

Get Cracking: Newton’s Nook Holiday Cards

I thought for this month I would share a few of my favorite holiday cards we made at the Creative Journey Art Retreat earlier this month with Newton’s Nook Stamps and Dies.

Newton’s Nook is known for their kitty stamps, and I love that I can color them to look like my kitties 🙂 Seen here the Caroling Newton stamp set is 3 special kitties (left to right) Gus, Mister Harley and some of you may remember Watcher. Colored them with some Copic Markers and then added some Lawn Fawn Glitter Cardstock and patterned paper.

For this card, I used the Newton’s Nook Winter Memories stamp set, which is different from their other animal sets, but I love it! I also used the Holiday Greetings dies and their Petite Snow Stencil.

I started out by watercoloring a background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and then all the stamping was done with Distress Oxide Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Pine Needles, and Candied Apple)

I used a Distress Blending Brush to stencil Distress Oxide Faded Jeans. For the sentiment, I did something I like to call “sentiment stacking” where I die-cut 3 layers of Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper and stacked them together with a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. This gives you a fun embellishment for your card. For the word “bright” I added a layer of Pixie Dust Glitter Cardstock from Lawn Fawn.

Lastly, I used Newton’s Nook, The Nutcracker Squeak set, which I think is adorable. I did some simple Copic coloring, added a touch of glitter and the fun sentiment is their Ornamental Wishes stamp set. I love the variety of sentiments on here!
