Hello everyone! Thank you for understanding my need to postpone Get Cracking on Christmas last week, you are all the best! Normally I would be sharing my project on the 3rd Thursday of the month, but that was not happening last week- just not enough hours in the day sometimes. I am excited to continue to share the Get Cracking on Christmas series and wicked excited to work on my stash of holiday cards throughout the year! I will continue to create holiday cards with NO STRESS, using stamps I haven’t had a chance to play with yet, and experiment with different techniques.

Get Cracking: Newton’s Nook
I mentioned in a previous Get cracking on Christmas LIVE that I was going to use this fun Newton’s Toboggan stamp set from Newton’s Nook. I just LOVE that there are three kitties so I can represent each of my boys. I stamped the image on Distress Watercolor Cardstock, the smooth side. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with ultrafine clear embossing powder.
Note: whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool.
I then watercolored the image with Distress Watercolor Pencils. If you would like to learn more about Distress Watercolor Pencils, I recommend you take my online class!
Once the image was watercolored and cut out, I added some Prisma glitter with a Quickie Glue pen to the details of the hats and scarves. Can you tell which kitty is Mister Harley, which is Gus and which is Jac? I share more of my kitties on their own Instagram here.
I then ink-blended some backgrounds with stencils and Distress Inks. I used Newtons Nook Petite Snow and Snowfall Stencil.
I ink blended on Distress White Heavystock using Salvaged Patina and Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. I used Simon Says Stamp blender brushes (that I store in my favorite brush caddy). As always when I use stencils I used the Make Art Stay-tion and whenever I am ink blending I love to use the Ink Stands to hold my ink pads, I also use a small mister bottle filled with Isopropyl Alcohol, to quickly clean my stencils with a Flour Sack Cloth.
I then diecut the background from the largest stitched rectangle from lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle. I die-cut the smaller rectangle using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Rectangle sets and matted that with some Peacock cardstock. I also cut a snowy hillside using Lawn Fawn’s Puffy Cloud Borders die set and white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink.
This card was so fun to create, and I always love to feature my kitties on a card! I can’t wait to share more with you on YouTube!
