Get Cracking: Frosty Forest

Today I’m sharing this dreamy watercolored winter forest card, and I just love how it came together! The soft, painterly background combined with those gorgeous layered pine trees gives it such a magical, snowy feel.
I started with a little pigment smooshing using Distress Watercolor Pencils to create a soft, blended sky. Then I reached for the Honey Bee Stamps Watercolor Pines stamp set, it has the most wonderful variety of pine tree sizes and styles, which makes layering them so fun and natural-looking. I used several different greens to build up the tree line, then switched to Stormy Sky to smoosh in that snowy ground along the bottom.
For the sentiment, I used Bitty Buzzwords: Holidays from Honey Bee Stamps, white embossing on black cardstock for the smaller words, and Worn Lipstick Distress Watercolor Pencil for that pretty pop of pink on the larger “holiday” word. Love that contrast!
Once the panel was trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″, I ran the edges through my Paper Distresser for a little texture, splattered on some Dr. PH Martin’s Bleedproof White for falling snow, and finished things off with Distress Snowflakes along the ground, that stuff is so fun with its mix of mica and glitter!
I’d love for you to join me LIVE where I’ll walk through all of these techniques in detail! And don’t forget, a full shoppable supply list is waiting for you at the bottom of this post. Happy crafting! 🌲
