Get Cracking: Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Alright, you guys, NINE days until Christmas! So I am thinking that we are starting our cards for next year!

For the past few years, I have been creating a few holiday cards each month so that I am more prepared when November comes around. I enjoy making the cards so much more when I have time to play with different supplies and techniques. I share these cards on the third Thursday of each month. You can see previous Get Cracking on Christmas posts here.

In December 2020, I asked people in my {creative chick} studio share Facebook group, that if you didn’t send holiday cards in 2020, what were the reasons. One of the most common responses was they didn’t have enough time.

So I was thinking, how can I give you time? And I came up with a plan! I know that you enjoy when I host LIVEs and share with you a technique, or how I created a card- so this year each month for Get Cracking on Christmas I am going to host a LIVE. During these LIVEs, I encourage you to join me and start to Get Cracking on your OWN holiday cards. You can do something similar to mine, or just work on your own thing. Doesn’t matter, just show up and create!

Get Cracking: Believe in the magic of Christmas

This is a fun and easy card to make and could work for holiday cards, winter cards, thank yous, etc. You could make a variety of them by switching up the colors too.

I used Distress re-inkers for this background, it gives you a brighter more saturated color. I used Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, and Shaded Lilac.

Dripping a few drops onto a craft sheet, spritzing with water, and then smearing Distress White Heavystock into the ink. I do one color at a time, drying in between layers with a Ranger heat tool. I can’t wait to show you guys during my YouTube LIVE how fun this is!!

Next, I diecut the panel with Honeybee Stamps Fancy Flakes Cover Plate. I did use a metal adapter since Distress White Heavystock is 130# and the die is very detailed. I then used Honeybee Stamps Pierced Fancy Flakes Cover Plate to add all the dotted detail to the snowflakes.

I just LOVE the combination of these two dies, it makes my snowflake-loving heart so happy! For the sentiment, I used Honeybee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords Holidays stamp and die set. I stamped “believe” with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide, and “in the magic of Christmas” with Versafine Onyx Black.

I added the sentiments to the front panel. Then for some added embellishment and sparkle, I added some Trinity Stamps Cave Crystals, Iridescent Glossy Transparent Confetti Mix with Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. I love that these are flat- better for mailing! I used 3L/Scrapbook Adhesives Foam Strips to pop the whole layer up off a white background.
