Long Distance Crafty Time

Hey everyone! This is a little bit of a different post for me. I know we are all hunkered down in our homes- but that doesn’t mean you can’t still “get together” with friends.

My Fun Friends and I have been doing periodic ZOOM calls- it is free and you can have a bunch of people on video at once.

My besties Josie and Melyssa and I did a check-in via FaceTime last Friday and I think we plan to do it again this week.

Chari and I are East Coast Fawnies hehehehe and constantly texting about crafty things and non-crafty things so we Face-timed Sunday afternoon and created together. She and I worked on our own projects but then we realized we both were gifted the same unicorn die from Waffle Flower- so we thought- why not create a card with it on the spot but not share it until we were done!

It was a lot of fun and *almost* like we were together for real (minus the hugs and lemon drops 😉 )

Long Distance Crafty Time

This is what I created with the Waffle Flower Unicorn Die

I started by diecutting the unicorn out of Distress Watercolor Cardstock, the smooth side up.

I then watercolored it with Distress Inks

• Picked Raspberry
• Spiced Marmalade
• Mustard Seed
• Twisted Citron
• Peacock Feathers
• Wilted Violet

Using a lot of water, and layering the color by heat setting it in between layers.

I cut the unicorn horn and a small star out of gold sparkle cardstock from Lawn Fawn Holiday Sparkle Cardstock and adhered them with a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube.

I then cut the unicorn cheeks and hair out of Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust Sparkle Cardstock. I added some color to the cheeks with an RV10 Copic marker. I adhered these with a glue tube as well.

I layered some gray cardstock behind his eyes and nose.

I then put a generous amount of Lawn Fawn Glue Tube on his wings, and sprinkled Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter- SO PRETTY!

For the background, I used Newton Nooks Cloudy Sky Stencil. Whenever I stencil now, I use the Wendy Vecchi Stay-tion mat. I LOVE this. It holds the stencil in place, and I don’t need to spend time taping things down.

To ink the clouds I used a blending brush and Lawn Fawn Merman ink. Keeping the stencil in place I then spread on some Ranger Transparent Texture Paste. While this was still wet I then sprinkled Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter all over. I LOVE this was of getting a fun sparkle because it almost makes the clouds raised, and I can heat it with a heat tool and not have to wait for it to dry.

For the sentiment I used one of my favorite stamp/dies from Lawn Fawn, Big Scripty Words

Some people have a hard time stamping and die cutting these because of all the loops and narrow edging. I have an easy way to do it and get a perfect image each time. (I shared this on a previous post so it is different words)

1. Put some scrap cardstock into your Misit, and stamp the words you will want to use on your card. Keep this setup. Hold it with your magnet, or some Thermo Web Purple Tape.
2. Die-cut the words you will want to stamp. Overlay the negative on top of the words you stamped on scrap cardstock. Be sure that the alignment is correct. Tape in place.
3. Place in the die-cut words into the negative cardstock.
4. Stamp your words in whatever colored ink you would like.

This time I used “love ya” in Plastic Flamingo Lawn Fawn ink. This was such a fun card to make, and I can already think of a lot of other ways to decorate that unicorn!
